Duet is the first app that allows you to use your iDevice as an extra display for your Mac using the Lightning or 30-pin cable.

Duet is built by ex-Apple engineers, delivering a retina display at 60 frames per second with zero lag. Seriously.

An additional display increases productivity by up to 48%.

Add touch bar to any iPad from any Mac. Just connect to a Mac running Sierra 10.12.2 and enable the feature in duet's menu bar settings.

Interact with OS X like never before. The most advanced display for your Mac.

Requires:

OS X 10.9+ or Windows 7+

iOS 7+

Brilliant. An excuse for a 12 inch iPad Pro!

I tried this for the first time whilst working from home, and was faultless. No discernable lag at all, even on a Windows PC! I was thinking the same about a larger iPad Pro, but not sure how I'd get that one past the missus? Maybe my 50th birthday present next year ;)

How does this function on a windows 10 pc?

Heat added! Was looking at this a while ago and although I have no issue with paying the original amount I didn't think i needed it enough at the time to make it worthwhile. Also I was sort of hoping there'd be audio through it too - but a reply from the devs explained it wasn't in the current timeline. But it certainly looked exceptional. At this price however I think I might just have to take a punt. Thanks OP for the heads up :)

Anyone using this on Windows? I've read that the resolution is limited to 1024x768, is this true?
#6
Bought, thanks! It is way better than any other wifi connected apps :D

Would also be genuinely interested to learn as to how too though?, thanx. :-)

Hmm interesting. One of the reviews quoted in the description on the App Store mentions "true retina resolution" so it must be achievable, but not yet found confirmation if that is limited to Mac.
#12
Interested to try this, back in the day air display was really laggy.

Wonder if it'll allow retina resolution on my 2011 iMac and iPad Pro - since the iMac doesn't natively support those resolutions.

It's a great solution to get traktor in front of me whilst my laptop is hidden away. Great app.
#14
What would this be like for streaming a video to it?

I only got 1024 X 768 on my work PC. Not had time to try on Mac laptop yet.

testing this on Windows 10.

My old iPad Mini gets 1024 x 768 it's a little jittery..

My iPhone 6 Plus gets 1280 x 720 Smooth

I get full retina resolution available using this from my Windows 10 Laptop (previous generation i5, no extra GPU).

Android version ?

Hear hear. :-)

Just a heads up, if you're running an SLi setup n your Windows 10 PC then this app is not fully compatible. I just found out the hard way. It causes a constant boot loop which requires a restore point to fix.

Is VNC not something similar?

Was a little strange with how it decided to use the iPad screen as primary, but once I tweaked the settings it worked quite well! Using MBP and iPad Air

Thanks to all those who answered my question most appreciated :)

If you're using a pro version of Windows then get the free Microsoft Remote Desktop Client app for your iPad (from the Apple App Store) & enable remote access on your PC. You'll then have a fully functioning windows desktop on your iPad with touchscreen support. Good way of getting Kodi or any other Windows software on an iPad or even an iPhone. Works very well.

Wicked price! I paid in full long ago and have not regretted it.

If you travel for work and bring your iPad, this is a no brainer at the price of lunch. Hotel wifi is spotty most of the time so cannot rely on remote desktop/vnc solutions. And the TV is often too far or does not support high resolution.

Heat added! :)

That's great, thank you very much..

Sounds complicated but certainly give it a go. Thanks...

Does anyone know if it works both ways- does it also give touch access to the iMac or Macbook via the iPad? And if so, is it pressure-sensitive in Photoshop? If it does it would make Wacom tablets like the Cintiq obsolete.

Tried this and it's not opening Kodi?

Says unable to create GUI so I'm stuck?

Also there's no sound out of the ipad? Haven't worked that out either?.

All for Kodi on an ipad impossible, I hate Apple sometimes..

The GUI fault is caused multiple instances of Kodi trying to run at the same time & the sound issues are driver related. Both are usually rectified by simply signing out of windows & then signing back in on your iPad or if that doesn't work try restarting your pc (& then signing in on your iPad only leaving your computer monitor off.)

It should work then hopefully.

Looks like there are plenty of people on the web with same problem & all seem to have different solutions. Might be worth uninstalling & reinstalling Kodi while using windows on your iPad or fiddling with the full screen window options in Kodi.

Sorry to OP if this is all off topic.

This works for quite high resolutions when I use it with my work laptop running windows 7 and iPad pro 12" I.e. 2048 x 15xx or something. It does seem a bit laggy though (although not sure if it's due to my work laptop not being that high spec)

Good software though as I can use a second screen for work etc.

I'd have said Plex is a much better choice for any tablet anyway (assuming you already have a HTPC or other computer that can act as the main server)
