Duke Nukem Forever Xbox (18)

Perhaps the longest awaited game in the history of videogames, Duke Nukem Forever has reached legendary status among gamers, as a game that almost didn’t come out. But now here’s the Duke, on your Xbox 360, in all his one-liner spouting, bullet-spitting glory.
Duke Nukem Forever is a first person shooter in the classic mould, primarily because it was one of the games that created the mould in the first place. The game features fast-paced blasting gameplay, as you take on hordes of savage alien invaders who are intent on stealing Earth’s women.
Playing as the utterly unreconstructed, cigar-chomping, shades-wearing Duke, you’re given a whole armoury of weapons to defeat the off-world invaders, save the girls and protect Duke’s casinos and franchises from destruction.
These weapons include everything from pistols to shotguns, chain guns and more esoteric toys such as the shrink ray and freeze ray, both of which do exactly what they say on the packet. And failing that, there’s always Duke’s big right foot.
You’ll need all these weapons to defeat a horde of enemies ranging from the classic Pig Cops you’ll know and have loved turning into pork scratchings in previous instalments, as well as a host of alien enforcers, Octabrains, assault troopers, and not forgetting end of level bosses such as the towering Cycloid Emperor and the hideous Alien Queen.
Duke Nukem Forever offers all the frenetic first person alien blasting thrills you expect from the franchise, and is the perfect game for both long-term Duke fans and players of recent sci-fi shooters such as Bulletstorm and Brink. Duke Nukem’s ready to roll, so come get some

Still slightly cheaper at Tesco. It may depend on whether the code is one-use-only (if you've used it).

Tesco Ent Deal is miles better with the Free 300

i cant get the code to work ?

May I ask what are people comparing it to? The closest comparison for a Duke game would probably be Serious Sam, but that's aimed more at hordes of enemies being hurled at you.

It's getting silly now with the 'xx years n the making'. The game as we see it now was only in development for a few years. The early builds would be almost unrecognisable in comparison.

Also, I'd wait for a better source for a review than a newspaper.

The game in it's current form is that Frankenstein of a monster that's been 14 years in the making. GearBox had no idea who worked on what bit so they had a form on their website you could fill out if you believed that you contributed the game over the years.

Always Bet on Duke

I got it yesterday and a Duke fan and im enjoying the game, might be to all the new COD players tastes but if you played duke 3d when it 1st came out you should enjoy this.

I'll wait till this goes around the £20 mark, which if reviews are to be believed it shouldn't be too long.

Anyone who played the original back in the 90s on DOS will think its great, because it is.

Gameplay is as generic as CoD and Battlefield, infact ALL FPS games are generic. You are completely missing the point of Duke Nukem games if you are concerned about the graphics. It uses the same engine as Bioshock, so if you went into this game expecting the next Crysis level of graphics you are an idiot.

Anyone who buys this game and hasnt played the original, you probably shouldnt have bought it anyway, but if you still go on to play it, dont go into it expecting anything serious. Its Duke Nukem, its witty, crude, adult fun. Its a 12 year old game in a 5 year old graphics engine, so lower your expectations.

Also, quick note, if you dont buy it on PC, get it on PS3, the Xbox version is absolute garbage.

Have you seen the Amazon ratings? I was like HOLY SHEET.

I'll still get it, I'm a collector and I like even the bad games, think by Christmas it'll be dirt cheap and I'll snatch it up.

The amazon reviewers seem to mainly complain about graphics, meaning they only play CoD and FIFA. Most people feel lost these days if they cant click R3 to knife someone or cant aim down a rds. Gaming is in a sorry sorry state these days :(

Personally cant wait for the next Wii, at least Ninty still know how to make fun games, which is the whole point of playing a game in the first place, FUN :)

Sadly awful and I loved the original. It never was gonna be anything else.
#33
People keep telling me this game is bad so i think i'll try the demo first or rent the game.

PC Gamer are going to go down in flames for giving this 80/100.
It's worth 60% at most and they will be punished. (Have people already forgotten about their Dragon Age 2 review?).
.
If it wasn't Duke branded it would be a 4/10 budget release. Seeing people defend this disgraceful game has made me absolutely determined to see it fail and continue my 'troll'.

Yeah, people on Amazon complain about games a lot because half of the time they are disappointed with the game because of price they paid for it while if they bought it when it was £20 or less they'd be much more satisfied, I know in a few months time Duke Nukem will be a perfectly decent game for me. They also complain about delivery in the reviews also...

To be honest I can't believe anyone expected this to be good. This was doomed after so many years of development. Only a great developer like Naughty Dog or Valve could saved it and even then it would've been pretty hard. They should've just cancelled this and started work on the next Duke Nukem

Not a good sign when I'm struggling just to find a demo.

Load times take the biscuit and really ruin the experience.
