B&Q currently have offer on Dulux paint 2 x 2.5l for £20 or 2 x 5l for £35. I was surprised to see this also includes kitchen paint which normally costs £19.48 for 2.5l so this is nearly bogof! Don't think it's online but confirmed price at Stretford and Trafford stores this afternoon

On a similar line Focus have Dulux Emulsion 2.5L at 3 for 2. Their K&B and Endurance is £19.99. If you know an oldie or have a homemovers discount card you get 10% off so it makes it £36 for 3 tubs. Not as good as B&Q - but if you want Endurance I think it's a good deal.

If you are buying paint, take a trip to your crown or dulux decorator centres.
Ive renovated a few houses, and trust me, trade paints are in a whole different league to the retail paints.

They do cost a little more though, but you only need 2 coats, instead of 3.

Crown trade paints are fantastic, and are cheaper than dulux.

I think 5l cost £28, 2.5l cost around £19, and 1l around £8. You can pick out of thousands of colours.

Ask for discounts, and mentions the prices of the B&Q paints.

Leyland is quite poor quality paint.

Go to your nearest Dulux decorators centre, and buy a tub of Gliddens contract matt. Its about £14 for 10 litres, but is much better quality than leylands stuff. If you will be painting a cream colour for final coats, buy magnolia as an undercoat. Its the same price, but allows the top coats to go further.

You can get 10Litres Brilliant White Crown from B&Q for a tenner ATM.

Sorry for my ignorance - what is the difference between "kitchen paint" from "paint"?

it lasts longer in a kitchen environment ie grease wipes off etc

Not really a fair comment. Most Leyland paint (made by Kalon, as is Johnstones) is perfectly good quality and usually significantly cheaper than over-priced Dulux, mainly because it is not advertised heavily. The ordinary Leyland emulsion is however probably not the best of its type; I do agree that Gliddens is good stuff. But Leyland oil-based eggshell, for example, is a very nice paint to use and seems to wear well - I have used at least 15 litres of it (white and magnolia) in the last few years on household interior woodwork.

Great offer, bought two kitchen paints today (Tropic Lemon!). The white kitchen paint at £17.95 is NOT part of the deal unfortunately. This offer is on until 20th October.

Just to let you know all dulux and crown are 2.5l x 2 £20 and 5l x 2 £30, this includes the dulux paint mixing, so brill all round. yes this includes solo, endurance K&B, period colours, suede effect. easy clean, and one coat. hope this helps lots of people.:-D:thumbsup:

Not on offer in my local, ringing up at full price

Really glad the paint mixing is also inc in offer, disappoint that the gloss, satinwood or eggshell is not included.

Stupid question:
Can i use emulsion on wood?
Maybe use clear varnish on top or even mix it with white gloss.

I've used emulsion on wood - on a bath panel so it matched the rest of the room. I went over it with a clear waterbased matt varnish. I don't think I would recommend it on skirting boards though where it will get heavy wear.

try the b&q everywhere, does exactly what says on the tin, :whistling:
