In our local 99p store they are selling Dulux once paint (750ml) for wood and metal surfaces. The colours in stock are Vanilla Cream, Dawn and gooseberry. I was in B&Q the day before and we paid £10 for them!

If every a product should be called "Twice" - this is it.

Still, good deal.

Or, as its known in the trade, once is not enough!

We bought a tin of paint recently with a similar deal, once we got it home and opened it we found it was no longer liquid...

Be aware when you spend your 99p...

Agreed! You always need a second coat.
This paint is very good though.
I always use this (well, the normal Dulux not "once") to paint wood doors, architraves and skirting boards.
The finish is perfect, making a cheap pine door look like real beech/ mohogany (based on the colour you choose).
Little trick of the trade from decorators who look after their customers:
Sand the door down with a fine grain paper until smooth and thinly apply first coat.
Let it dry for 12 hours or even better 24 and very lightly sand it again with same paper until you get a very smooth surface.
Apply second thin coat and when it is dry you will find that the door is very smooth and the cheap pine looks like real hard wood.
I'm sure my fellow DIY experts will confirm or better, will add to this.

Just bad luck.
The lid must have had a small dent letting air in the can.
Pretty common.
