Ive just bought a new bike and was looking for a secure U Lock for it, Argos and Halfords were charging £15-20 so i left it. Was well pleased when i went to Lilywhites/Sports Direct in store and saw this deal. It works a treat, has 2 keys and is very secure. Not the most exciting deal but handy if you have started to cycle about during the summer.

Available in store and online (delivery charge online though)

(p.s they also had loads of bike stuff marked down, Puncture repair kits 79p, Dunlop Cycle Helmets £4.99 etc )

Great price for a bike lock to deter the oppetunist sort.

Clearly it's not going to be 'very secure'. Opportunist deterrent, as moorjock said.

To get it properly secure you are looking at spending £100's. There's a video on YouTube of them testing motorbike chains, even the £100+ plus one's were cut through with a pair of bolt cutters.

This is more than enough protection for the average rider.

Please add £3.99 (price of postage) to price.

How many will be needed to hold Mike Ashley to the bottom of the Tyne?

Thanks to the OP....picked one up today.

Had to ask though, as all their cycling stuff was being relocated, and all they had in stock was in a rubbish bag near the counter.

Seems our local SD only sells dunlop brand bike gear, another name they've purchased perhaps?

Hi there, just joined this forum to warn you all NOT TO BUY THIS LOCK!!! I bought one when SD had the same offer in September. This week the lock started acting up - I would have to wiggle the key around to get it out again. Not so bad, you may think, but today the lock stopped working altogether, so my bike is stuck in the middle of town until I (or someone more enterprising) can get the tools together to dismantle the lock. Not a good deal.

Update: I returned to my bike with a light hammer today, and had the lock broken within seconds. I guess you get what you pay for...

good for a £30 asda bike

Bike lock is not of good quality at all. I purchased it last week but yestarday after locking it i am not able to open the lock. It seems bearing in locking mechanism has failed. Its not designed properly.
