Weight won't be the real problem, design and quality will. I'm not a bike snob but there's no way you're going to get a half decent full sus, disc braked bike at this price, especially a Dunlop courtesy of Sports Direct.

If all you've got to spend is £95 get something basic but functional from Decathlon or similar.

Sorry OP but you knew it was coming!

cheap but lots of equally cheap things that can easily go wrong i.e. suspension, disc brakes for example.

budget bikes should be simple and uncomplicated.

Absolutely, and to demonstrate the point, there's a Decathlon bike worth looking at here

16 kgs +/- 1 moon.

16 kg on a badly built full-sus will be as much fun as digging your own kidneys out with a cricket stump.

Yet again the bike peeps fail to "get it". The sort of person this bike is aimed at doesnt give a monkeys what it weighs and the only off road it will see is the pavement.

Guys, you're all wrong. Here it says:

"(...) built with quality and value in mind! (...) this bike is perfect for blasting down the trails!!"

Thinking of getting this to replace my Stumpjumper FSR 2010 ^^

As per Comments #4 & #7 this Decathlon deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/b-twin-rockrider-5-0-mountain-bike-shimano-21-speed-anthracite-grey-5yr-warranty/982708 is a worthy alternative.

Voted best budget bike by the Gadget Show. 14Kg. Jason Bradbury tried to beat it to death & failed. It seems to be tougher than advertised.

Nothing to do with bike snobbery. Everything to do with helping someone get value for money.

A heap of cack for £95 is poor value. Something half decent (i.e. the Decathlon deal) for £99 on the other hand is a perfectly good machine that doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

It's your cash, waste it how you like. We tried.

In this case - the last thing a purchaser would want is useless, heavy full suspension bike that will do more harm than good. As a bike snob, I would recommend either getting the Decathlon bike or a second hand branded bike from ebay (but ask a bike minded friend to check it over).

Don't mock it until you have tried it. I have had many cheap bikes that have lasted a long time going offroad daily. And for the thing at decathlon, That looks a terrible bike that i wouldn't be seen on if i got paid lol. But i knew it would go cold. So i don't mind :D

Get the Decathlon. I am a bike snob and I would buy that :)

Do you mean get the rockrider?

Just to add that I voted cold on this also but only because IMO, it's not a good deal.

You can get equilvalent bikes like this cheaper from Asda/Tescos/Argos/Amazon from time to time. At this price, they are much of a muchness and will be equally poor in quality

I have had bikes from Supermarkets for £40 right up to my latest and greatest that cost me £2000.

The sweet spot for when bikes get decent is around £300. I know this is too much for a lot of people who will probably use it to pot around parks with their kids or want to buy one to see if they want to take up cycling and so for that, you really can't beat the Rockrider at £100.

Poor bikes like this Dunlop one can at best put people off the joys of cycling and at worst be downright dangerous to ride. My 2 cent.

I got one too, cheap but not cheerful. Have used it 4 times, the brakes are binding and won't adjust properly and the crank has gone. It is heavy and slow and I'm getting rid
