Following on from the Morrison's deal the other week, Waitrose have secured a large quantity of Duval-Leroy 2004 vintage blanc-de-blancs, normally retailing at £29.99, which they are selling for £14.99.
For the uninitiated, vintage champagne is made from the grapes of a single year's harvest, unlike the more common champagne which is made from a blend of wines from many different years. Blanc-de-blancs means the champagne is made solely from the white chardonnay grape - again, normal champagne is usually a blend of three grapes, chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier. Blanc-de-blancs therefore tends to be quite "green" and fresh, but has excellent maturing potential.
The offer is instore and online but the online section has sold out, presumably because they've shipped it out to the stores.
