Yep and to a computer.

As an aside I think that you might need DVB-S2 compatibility to get all the HD channels rather than DVB-S.

With Freesat via a DVB tuner you get BBC HD and Luxor HD out of the box. To get ITV HD you need to do some tweaks on the PC you are using the tuner on (this is because ITV HD is accessed via the red button normally.

Also to add a DVB-S tuner is fine for this - I have the Compro S350 PCI DVB-S tuner and get the HD channels in WMC7.

I cannot edit posts so sorry for the double post.

If you can pay a few quid more and can use a PCI card I would highly recommend this - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductID=683707 - other a USB one.

Just out of interest, what do these kind of units save the video files as? is it MPEG?

This will be fine to view the free HD channels, but only channels which are FTA. It will not display FTV channels, which need a sky card, despite being free.
FTA channels are BBC-HD, ITV-HD, and luxe TV-HD Along with all your standard definition channels.

The only channels which are DVB-S2 (new technology) are the premium sky hd channels, which you wont be able to decypt anyway, so need need to worry about it only being DVB-S.

Just to comment before people go out buying one of these hoping to plug into their sky dishes. You will likely need to upgrade to a dish with a new LNB (Low noise block). Usually with basic sky it will be a single or twin LNB (for sky+). So if you are looking at this sort of thing remember you may have to pay more to upgrade to be compatible and not everyones dishes are as easily accessible as others so might need a handyman to do the upgrade.

Why would you have to upgrade your lnb exactly? The standard sky one will be adequate as long as there are there are free feeds off it.
