Not expecting this to get hot, but a classic film and well worth seeing.
Banned from mainstream TV, unforgettable to those that have seen it.

Review :-
Awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, Bad Boy Bubby with its hard hitting content of deprivation, mental illness and incest shocked its audiences to become one of the most daring and controversial cult films of the 1990s.

Nicholas Hope gives an astonishing performance as Bubby, a demented man-child kept locked for his entire life in a squalid apartment by his depraved mother who uses him for sex. When Bubby who can only communicate by mimicking what others say and do, escapes into the outside world, he soon discovers young women, crime, rock'n'roll, and pizza. Will this naive 'mad bastard' be destroyed by the realities of our cruel world, or does a higher calling ultimately await him in the most unlikely place of all?

This film has some ****ed-up scenes in it!

Well worth watching (for more reasons other than shock value), although the band bit is a bit contrived...

Its artistic - I love this film have watched a few times and each time you see something different, I know it is 'off the wall' but amazing direction and it has created a lot of laughs in the family, especially to do with 'cling wrap'

Yeah, I remember this film when it first came out. Freaky stuff.
Despite being broard-minded, I was upset by the cling-film scene in particular but the whole film stuck in my mind which is the sign of a good movie.

Yep I felt the same first time I saw it, it is upsetting, some scenes you just want to hide behind the nearest cushion.
But one things for sure...it provokes a reaction in everyone who sees it and becuase of that its a far more memorable film....I saw it in the 90's and still remember it now.

Thanks to everyone who voted this hot, i expected it to go sub zero :-D

Awesome film
Well worth getting the un-cut version at £16.99 so £6.99 is a bargain.

The incest scenes with his horrible naked mum are nasty. The cat suffocation scenes aren't too great either. I'd only want to see this film once and I have, didn't know it was on DVD. Worth seeing once anyway :)
#17
its probably the worst film i have ever seen. so bad you have to watch.obviously that means the art critics will love it:p
#18
I love this film. :-D Gonna order this now and throw away the old copy I've had for ages.

Both an obscure little gem and a great deal also.

Superb find bigflump ;-)

Anyone who makes a film which uses animal suffering as entertainment should have a red hot poker shoved up their sphincter. I read the hype people have given this film and thought it would be great film to get, but having read the above post, I'm voting cold. No-one should be allowed to promote animal cruelty. That's my opinion so please, bring it on, i'm expecting to be hammered.

So if a film depicts animal cruelty then it is promoting animal cruelty? Then does that people who watch films with murder, torture, armed robbery, bigamy, prostitution, buying stolen goods, selling stolen goods, deserting wife and children and (contrary to the laws of this state) using marked cards - should hang by the neck until dead? (Sorry Sergio!)

Does that mean any other piece of art that depicts pain or violence like animals being killes in classical art should be destroyed? Every book that tells a tale of something nasty should be burned?

This is stepping firmly into censorship territory. Age ratings I am happy with, and animal or human suffering for real is very bad, but taking away the freedom of expression of artists (yes, acting and film making are art) is a very slippery slope.

Ha Ha I love it.... especially the human aspect... didn't I say about a hot poker and a sphincter! If that isn't promoting human suffering I wouldn't know what is. Strawdog...you are that sphincter.

Thanks, being called a muppet is so much nicer than being called a Pufta. In fact , I'm so impressed its changed my mind. Thanks everyone for helping me see the light. I now realise any display of animal cruelty is ok, just as long as it comes under the banner of Art. Clearly normal people enjoy watching animal cruelty, fabricated or otherwise.
I'm so happy to have been involved in this constructive debate.

Great find, love this obscure film.
Heat added.
#32
It depicts animal cruelty, it certainly does not promote it.

It helps to know the context in which this takes place - do you know anything about the character involved?

If you want to be taken seriously please see the film before you comment on what it is or isn't promoting.

Your guessing actually says more about your imagination than the film in question.

pop get pizza for cat.

great film, heat added just because im shocked someone else recommended it!
i think i got it for about £7 from the US a few years ago, but everyone should watch this film, even the animal rights nuts...

ok.................

i suppose you probably didn't see schindlers list as you think it was anti-semmetic film promoting anti jewish propoganda?

to be of the idiology that you cannot see any action for its actual intended consequence and instead merely label all actions as either appropriate or inappropriate, which is totally irrespective of the context makes me puzzled at exactly what on earth you ever would watch?

Even nature documentaries have animal cruelty in them (possibly even the worst kind)?

do you only watch CBBC?

any adult will tell you that "entertainment" does not just translate as "for thrills and giggles"
and informative or deeply moving lectures or thought provoking art i would calssify as entertaining.

peopel who claim to be morally rigid in issues such as this just dont seem to full understand the complexity of context and meaning.

and your post above i think clearly highlights your "black and white" thinking ( to you its either: all ok or not ok at all)

i think perhaps you shouldn't waste your money on this film as it was designed to reach areas you have clearly never been before. (such as intellectual thought)

Love this film, crazy how its filmed by several directors but seems to intertwine with each other seamlessly..
