Hahaha, how untrue is that!

There is no alterantive for the DVD yet. Its not dying. It has another 10 years yet if not more. Peoples resistance to changing will ensure that. Its not like CD's where its easy to download and store.

What?? mabee for the hyper tech minded few who have computers with massive amounts of storage but for the rest of the world DVD's are very much alive and kicking!

hahahaha thats the funniest comment I've heard in a while - are the blu-ray fanboys going on the offensive against DVD now?? It will be a long time before anything takes over dvd. I'd bet that dvd outlasts blu-ray or anything else in the near future. There just isn't the leap between the next gen formats and dvd that there was between dvd and vhs.

The next time I watch a film on my SD HDMI-free telly I'll bear that in mind :) TIme to dust the VCR off then - VHS - its the future, I've tasted it!
#12
I expect all future Blu-Ray players will continue to support DVDs for pretty much the rest of the life-span of Blu-Ray, also, ensuring DVD won't just "die". I bet most people with Blu-Ray/HD DVD players still mostly watch DVDs.
#13
the upscaling quality of dvds on bluray players is fantastic!

dvd has easy another 5 years
#14
truth is blu-ray is too pricey at the moment - if the prices do ever come down for players and bluray dvds then i think the dvd market will die

Absolute fruit-cake!!

This website is absolutely awful, so difficult to find what you want. I've spent 2 minutes looking and no matter how cheap their dvd's are, the site is pants and i'm not gonna waste any more time on it!!

Not voted cold though, that would be harsh!!

Don't be daft! People want websites to understand exactly what they want and to present it to them on the first page! ;-)

Definitely recommend Night Watch, it was on FilmFour a few months ago and is well worth every penny of £1.99, the sequel Day Watch is available on DVD now.

As for DVD being a dead format? I can't see it myself, HD is the future in the form of Blu-Ray but DVDs represented such an increase in quality over VHS and is at a level that is both very acceptable and not prone to degradation with viewing (VHS) that though DVD players may dry up there will be a place for DVDs as an extremely affordable alternative to Blu-ray and future formats. And many of us, as Audio DVDs have shown, are not interested in updating our catalogues of films and music at great expense - Umm, the warm glow of vinyl.
#25
I predict DVD will be dead by May or June of this year.

Good find some good films there....voted hot!

Through the website front page and going into the spring sale section - most of the DVD's (& CD's) have no price listed or option to buy the item, guess these lists are mostly sold out already?

If this isn't a website screw-up then why not state "sold out" or remove them from the lists?
Tried in both Explorer & Firefox, no difference. Am i missing something? (like a few braincells?)

Good find though, not your fault they're website is ****.
Voted hot.

Cheers, Brim.

Braincells & eye strain it is then - "Availability: No longer available to order"
#30
i actually prefer upscaled dvd's to alot of bluray, i hate the grain effect on bluray, until bluray movies are masterd in HD at source i will still watch dvds, most bluray movies are just remastered/upscaled dvd quality just chucked on bluray format.

i dont see a problem with them still showing what was on sale. why does it matter?

Even though most movies I now purchase are on bluray I think calling dvd a dead format is a bit much. I'm certain it will be the mass market choice for at least for the next 2-3 years. Dont forget that bluray hardware has dropped in price a great deal faster than dvd ever did. Granted this was mostly due to competition from HD-DVD which no longer exists, meaning that lowering prices will slow down.

With most tv's, now sold, being HD and bluray players currently selling for £200 I dont think a little prediction of my own, that bluray will outsell dvd by 2011, is too much of a stretch.

It's when they're used in the wrong place. Banana's £1. Orange's 3 for 50p. DVD's for under £2...
