I don't usually bother with non-anime/manga bargains, but I thought I'd post this since it's a very good deal and no-one else seems to have reported it.

I've used 101CD in the past, had no problems.

For purists, this doesn't contain the original mono track which is present on the R1 edition.

This version has changed sound & foley effects throughout the film, and a missing music cue towards the end.

How obtrusive is the new sound work? I've tried googling, but havn't managed to find much in the way of reviews at all for this version?

On the DVD Compare (DVD Rewind) version comparison site, it looks like this is fundamentally the same as the Ultimate Edition. In the 'Notes' section for UE, it states this is also available as the DE. Link:

Most gunshots have been changed, and the laser noises in the future war scenes have been too. The music cue where the tanker truck explodes near the end is completely missing, meaning there is no tension in the build up to the explosion.

The sound of Arnie's .45 Longslide with laser sighting has been changed from a powerful firing noise to a silenced pistol!

Its a horrible set of changes to the original film. I would've been very happy if they'd remixed into 5.1 without the new foley, but with the new foley it sounds awful.

There are more moments when these changes happen, but I never listen to the track - I always use the original mono track. This is my favourite film so I was very disappointed when I heard the new sound mix.

I still have this DVD though, just for the documentary which isn't included on my R1 version. :)

My copy arrived the other day. As expected, it isn't the steelbook edition; it's in a standard DVD case with a slipcover. I don't mind since I only paid £3.80 and it's the best UK DVD release we'll see.

I watched the film last night and can't say I noticed anything wrong with gunshots or music cues. Unless the sound effect issues were fixed, I think people with those issues are a bit too picky.

Its not too picky. Why change them in the first place? This is my favourite film - of course I'm going to want to see it the way it was first made! I don't want some Star Wars-style re-imagining of The Terminator!
