According to the manufacturer spec page it only takes up to 8gb memory cards, worth noting if correct.

Noticed today they have 320gb 2.5" hard drives for £49.99

In my eyes its not really a deal or should i say camcorder....

Reason.. The optical zoom is rubbish , and the 16gb SDHC cards are not the cheapest (around £20.00 last time i checked) and you will require a couple of them i would expect with only 2 hours record time..

Just my 2 pences worth anyway.... either way im not voting.

A friend bought this for 150 quid some months ago, after looking at loads of reviews online, (some were listed - it was a deal from this site then too) which appeared pretty reasonable, but in practice it is pathetic - some problems getting the .MOV files it uses to play well (audio noise with whatever codec, on any PC, and yes the firmware is supposed to be the fixed one!). Most significantly, the performance in low light ie. INDOORS at all is appalling and you will need the place lit up like Blackpool in October to get even passable results. Not quite so bad outdoors, but it has just been a big disapointment :-(

I'll be honest - you're not going to get Blu-ray quality recordings from a £140 camcorder, are you? You bought it because it was cheap, not because it's the best one on the market,

I've got one of these and it's pretty good. It has it's limitations, but then I'm not going to spend £500 on a camcorder to take to the beach or video my kids swimming. It's an excellent piece of kit for the price, especially with 4% quidco and Maplin's newsletter vouchers knocked off!

Of course not, I didn't buy it at all - but I went through the reviews with him, and even a good bit of Youtube footage, which was generally pretty passable, but the indoor performance is so bad, it is unusable without separate lighting just to make faces recognisable .No-one had really made this point - reminiscent of the first Camcorder I had years ago, when everyone used to wander around with lighting glaring into everyone's face!

Unfortunately because of this, I wouldn't buy one at HALF the offer price, as that's where he (and I for that matter) would want to use it a fair part of the time.
