Was looking for a caddy, lo and behold, you post the very item I was looking for. Heat and reputation added. My total came to £6.44 (including the £1.99 p&p and 0.96p VAT)

Many thanks. :)
bought one of these last year and very happy with it very compact ideal for the old lappy hdd i had lying around, heat added

can't vote hot or cold on this as you can get a sunwire 2.5 sata caddy on amazon for £5.50 delivered

this may be a good model on here so i'll sit on the fence.

Why is everyone recommending this seller?
Surely it's cheaper at Amazon?

£3.16 with free delivery:

"+ £1.44 shipping"
Free Supersaver delivery with Amazon.

That does indeed show as a possible "Buying Choice"

right now that shows as "Usually dispatched within 2 to 4 weeks"

£3.16 with free delivery:

Fantastic post thanks! Just ordered for £3.16 from amazon with free delivery.

I don't want to vote this deal cold as it seems a bit mean, but there is a better deal out there for the same product.
ordered from amazon!
???sorry can someone tell me what this thing is???
ordered from amazon..
???sorry can someone tell me what this thing is???

yep! it's a 2.5" (laptop size) hard drive ENCLOSURE for putting a baby sized drive in
anyone recomend a drive to go with it?
???sorry can someone tell me what this thing is???

This is a portable case in which you put a 2.5" sata drive into ( you can get IDE ones too)
You need to buy a hard drive to put in.

Some have a USB, some a firewire coneection and some have both.

The power to run the drive comes from the usb cable unlike lots of desk top ones which have a mains power supply.

you can buy hard drives with a case supplied for about £25 depending on size. Some have been posted on here for £19.

Great for transfering files about too big for mem sticks.

hitachi make good portable drives, but Western Digital are better in my opinion
It's meant for a spare drive you have knocking about really, you could buy a new one just for it but you may be better of waiting to see if a complete unit turns up on here cheap.

btw, is there a maximum capacity for this, some of the caddies from DX only support upto 250gb.
Also, does anyone know of a decent similar one but with esata as well?
Well, even the other Marketplace sellers are cheaper than this one. :?

Well, if Kenable charge £6.44 for this item and Amazon marketplace traders charge less than this for the same item, then that is cheaper!

your comment was in relation to someone stating that amazon themselves (not a seller) was charging £3.16...my comment was referring to how is an amazon seller (who are charging more than amazon) cheaper than amazon
I was hunting for a 2.5" PATA enclosure, so luckily this was posted and ordered one from Kenable for £6 including p&p.

Thank you OP

The sumvision one are better looking and better quality, ive bought more than enough of both dynamode and sumvision to know

Also £4.98 delivered.

Not my listing, but a satisfied customers

auction no. 180474562191

or add cgi dot ebay in place of stars
I have a Sumvision USB+eSATA caddy for a 3.5" sata disk, hasn't skipped a beat

Also just thought: 2.5" drives can be 9.5 or 12mm tall - check whichever disk you're using will fit, some caddies only fit 9.5mm disks.

I have to say I like to empty the Seagate drives out of Iomega Prestige caddies.

I seem to remember that statement from the 'Prestige' thread last year, the thread with everybody in a panic over the Seagate drives firmware problem.
I also bought it originally for the drive inside (intended for new PC build) as it was the same price as the drive on it's own.
Mine is still in it's caddy, used as backup to a new pre-built PC I bought with a 1Tb drive already inside. :)

Thanks OP for posting this external case but I think I'll go for the Sumvision one instead.
Thanks OP for posting this. I've had my old laptop lying around for ages. Although I think I'll pop it in to a Sumvision enclosure instead. Cheers
How do you select free postage on the amazon caddy? I keep getting 3.99!!
Have two of these ... and whilst they are ok, the build quality isn't wonderful.

Also for some odd reason these wont power from my laptop. Other HDD caddies do, but these don't. I ended up going for an alternative product that cost around £6 +p&p ... which were much better, but it was an eBay job so no links.

Something similar to auction number : 250565590698
ordered from amazon :)
I needed an IDE version (not SATA) so searched on ebay and got one delvered for £4.19. Either way very cheap external storage if you have some laptop HDs not being used.
