How do you get surround sound via 1x 3.5mm? Virtual surround is suspect at best. And this isn't even dolby headphone or something of that ilk. You'd be much better off with a decent budget soundcard such as an Asus Xonar DG (which does include dolby headphone....whatever that's worth to you). I'm not voting this either hot or cold as i haven't used the product but going off basic principles i'd say this is a worthless gimmick

im gona buy these for speakers what i brought from ebuyer, a twin 1 for my xenta speakers 5.1 which connect through jack, connect 2 RCA through usb and 1 in headphones jack, ebay is cheeporer around £3 for twin heat for effort

I advise if your going to get a USB Soundcar (I required one because my laptops sound card died), get an external one that uses a cable, these things just break and fall apart within a week. (even with an extension usb).

As an owner of both I say yes, but I only use both as basic sound cards. The blue dongle is particularly fragile.

    hehehe Virtual surround sound

basically it's a very cheap sound card that might be useful but hardly high fidelity

The £2 version is fine, but be aware that it reverses the left and right channel. Not an issue with most headsets or powered speakers, but definitely an issue with my Dell Soundbar (it can be made to work by adding an adapter).

Sound quality is OK, but limited to 16bits at 44.1 or 48kHz. I also have a Behringer UCA202 which, while cheap drives circles around it.

I have no experience on the 'Virtual 7.1 version', so can't comment on it.

For those of you buying this to use with headphones, it is incredibly loud. Seriously. Volume down to 0 and then only a few clicks up from that.

Ah thanks for that link - I used to keep one of those in my briefcase - handy as the drivers are built into windows.
