do these work anywhere in the house?? Is it worth it??

Mine seem to do. I have one plugged into the router downstairs (on an extension lead) and the other is curently in my office in the loft and I have no problems with connection or speed.
If you don't want wireless, and don't want to route cables everywhere they are a great alternative IMO.
In 99% of cases they will work anywhere in the house.

I've used them since last year. Very reliable - never had any issues.

Just plug in and go. The software is just to enable the security on the network (stops someone plugging in a homeplug and accessing your network).
