Nice price for someone who wants to start to learn the game.

this is a great price for a beginner, ive been playing for 3 years and find it difficult to recognise the differance between cheap and expensive clubs!

FALSE ECONOMY!!! Avoid like the plague, you should never buy cheap clubs, your better with a second hand set of quality brand clubs.

bluedazza you must be a great player if you can play as well with cheap clubs as expensive clubs!!!!

i do it to enjoy it, once every couple of months, not saying im a good player just enjoy it! people dont want to spend a fortune on something you are not goin to get the full benefit from. ie when your a beginner or play for fun.

Might be worth going for the chicago set http://www.thesportshq.com/ProductDetails.asp?PCLinkID=554 at £39.99 after google, probably not much better quality but bag seems to be nicer with straps and stand.

IMO maybe as an intermediate or low handicap player the choice of clubs can be important but at the beginner level I think you're better off with cheap clubs. Doesn't matter if you damage them and they are a good cheap low risk introduction to the game. If you start playing twice a week then think about more expensive ones but for twice a month/year go for a cheaper set.

Unless you've plenty of money.....

Of course if expensive clubs would knock 10 off my handicap then that would be a different matter

For a Golf newbie or high handicapper these would be just fine, you can then spend the difference on some lessons from your local pro! Until you've got the basics right you could have a £700 set and they'll not make one bit of difference.

Price should include delivery...

Bargain! add another £7 odd for postage tho :P

Bought my texan classics from here. Great for the occasional game.
#10
likely to be similar to the donnay clubs which are £6 each in soccersport
so a fair saving on what is close to £100 there with a bag

if you only play a couple of times a year then these may be better than renting the old clubs at the course and youl of made your money back over 5 rounds

your not going to get much for £40 second hand but may be better looking on ebay for ones which are close to you so you can collect and not pay postage, may pick up a decent brand if your lucky

Was just about to say, The Chicago looks a nicer set.

Thanks for the post. I've updated it to include the delivery charge, which we always try to show here. :)

I have no idea about Golf! Never played it at all (and crazy golf does not count... !)

Just thought I would add my tuppence worth.

I think these would be ideal for the beginner.

The chicago set is a nicer looking set, but does not include a driver.

I started with a cheap set and have gradually progressed into a reasonable golfer (11) and still dont think you need to spend a fortune on irons.

The wison DI7's for around £279 are one of the best sets of irons on the market.

Alot of people rarely use there woods as they arent confident enough to risk them. Too many people I know, even good players, just use irons. Don't let the lack of a driver put you off.

Plus there's a further 10% discount code by typing in YAW. You have to go to the normal checkout rather than google checkout first. Then type the discount code in and then come back out of that checkout and go to the google one.

I put this on the vouchers page but it's gone for some reason.

Apologies for the intrusion (I'm new!)

I'm a great believer in you get what you pay for. When I started playing I looked at all the sites but plumped for a hippo set from www.golfunplugged.co.uk. They had the dynatech one too around £80 (i think) but I'm glad I paid the extra. The hippo set looks really good, its just me that not up to much

Got my order this evening, I got the Chicago set with a bunch of extras.

Havent tested them out yet, but it seems nice enough.

Good clubs for the beginner as you tend to beat the hell out of your first set anyway

I used to play off low 10s when I was at school, havent played since I left school and went to work. So I have been off golf for 15 years, it's time I got back into it. Back then when I used to play a round in the mid 80s I only played with cheap equipment.
