well, it is a rather old model, but very good - I've had mine for 3 years and no complaints.

Neg's explain please?

That's just it, they seldom explain their actions. Decent price (Although £250 in-store price is taking the pee a bit). Voted warm.

Don't forget Quidco.

I am very interested and tempted but the power is only 1400.

The one have now is 1200, was going to go for an 1800, so 1400 does not seem to be worth the bother, am I wrong here?

Apparently Dyson's use the power more efficiently than other models so they say it's not the power but the design. Give BMW a 1.8 then give Ford a 1.8 and you'll notice the difference?

Voted hot but are Dysons just all fur coat and no knickers, or all tan and no teeth?

Lol, Get yourself a Sebo or similar.

Go in any Vacuum repair shop and there will be loads of Dysons sitting round waiting for repair, and hardly any Sebos. This isn't simply a proportion thing, as in loads of Dysons have been sold so statistically there will be more to repair, its about build quality.
Ask the people who repair them, they are very prone to breaking and needing repair.
Every Vac repairer I spoke to recommended a Sebo - slightly more expensive to purchase and not as wacky looking, but will last 15-20yrs.

However, if you like Dysons, this is OK.

I bought this to replace a dodgey 2000W Vax that had fallen to bits. The power difference is unbelievable. The Dyson has far more suck, and with a 5yr P&L warranty, I am more than happy.

I am using a super-cheap Hoover Turbomaster 2, I think it cost £60 and the paper bags cost 20p each from CPC. It does all I need. The geek in me liked the idea of the Dyson but when I used a friend's to pick up some fine woodchippings and dust it clogged to zero suction within tens of seconds, and not in the tube. I wasn't impressed with it.

I am getting the impression Dysons not all cracked up to be. Excellent video on this thread
