Got the DC24 after Christmas when it was about the same price. Very good cleaner - beautifully engineered. Dust capacity is not large but so easy to empty it doesn't matter.
#3
how do you get it for the lower price stated is there a code?

What the hell are air watts? :?

From what I remember air watt is used to measure the efficiency of the air drawn into the system (in this case vacuum) not just the power drawn from the motor. Some vacuums had 1200w and even 1500w motors however they would not necessarily outperform those with lower wattage motors due to the design of the vacuum. -- its really just a more useful way of showing how efficient and effective the overall vacuum design is.

Yes, air watts is a step in the right direction in terms of overcoming marketing hype - people are lulled into believing that the electricity consumption in watts is what makes a cleaner effective, whereas it is very cheap to make a very inefficient motor which produces a lot of heat and not much air flow. Electricity consumption minus air watts = amount of power wasted.

Just go to argos.co.uk and search for dyson. (It's too stupid to recognise "dc24".)

Anyone have any opinions re which is better? The DC19 seems to have stronger suction yet is cheaper - any reasons?

They're completely different formats - one's a cylinder and one's an upright. I never understood why people like cylinder cleaners because they don't brush (unless they have special heads to do so) and you have to drag them around. A nice thing about the DC24 is that the brushes are driven by a separate motor which switches off if using the hose.
