Been after this and have been waiting for a price drop. Next cheapest I could find was amazon at £221.00

3% cash back from quidco makes this the best deal I can find.

got this one for my wife a couple of years ago (because she'd asked me for it) ;-)

do not lose the receipt, you'll probably need to show it to the Dyson repairman when he comes over to fix the prone to breaking on/off switch

Not seen anything about that on the reviews but will bear it in mind :santa:

sorry, I checked and the one that we've got is the DC15 (purple) - they look to be built with same design, etc.
the locking mechanism for the on/off switch was failing and the vacuum could only be turned off by unplugging it. after investigating online I found a few threads of people with the same or similar type problem. on one thread a nameless Dyson repair guy explained that they used cheap plastic parts on these models, hence them prone to breakage.

we still had warranty (after finally locating the receipt!) - I found Dyson customer service to be very helpful - they tell you the dates/times available in your area and will come to you.

If your Dyson is no longer under warranty: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/423900/dyson-fixed-price-service-for-dyson

Great British invention and design, but like a Flymo, they ain't built to last
