If you are buying this instore, I would also recommend you buy Zorb which is Dyson's own carpet cleaning powder, designed to work with any Dyson. Comet is doing this buy one get one half price when you buy a Dyson at the moment, so you can get 2 bags for £11.73. Ask what this does instore, but it is truly brilliant stuff!

This is basically the same as the All Floors so your not getting a huge saving here.

Doesn't have the features of the Animal or Blitz It I just posted.
#2
The Dyson Blitz you posted (@ Dixons) is £30 more...

And the DC25 All Floors model (that you are comparing the Overdrive model to) at Dixons is £219.99, and is OUT OF STOCK.

And this site is about good deals ... this is the cheapest I can find this model of Dyson.
#3
Actually looking at it you do seem to get the Animal Brush, I stand corrected.
#4
Good deal and voted hot but personally I'll stick with my Roomba!

Thank you for voting hot none-the-less.

I've cancelled my Blitz order and ordered one of these instead :)

I actually saw this before the dixons offer I found but didn't read the specs enough. Thanks Shaun.

Hehe! No bother. Get some Zorb too, it's brilliant stuff!
#8
I would but I've had delivery so not going to the store. Not to fussed getting wood flooring in my living room and my mum has a Vax carpet cleaner I can use :)
#9
What's the diff between this Overdrive and a normal DC25? Just colour?
#10
I think the overdrive is a higher spec'ed model with more airwatts (more suction power) and more tools.
#11
The overdrive is the DC25 Animal, just cheaper and Blue.

Until mine arrives I couldn't tell you if it has any extras but it doesn't look like it.

Either way it's cheaper.
banned#12
These aren't good for going up and downstairs with, are they?
#13
Seems to be the same as the Animal but in Blue (nice). Good cleaner and a good price - picked one up myself in the Xmas sales - It sucks!

Still a little expensive but if you have to have the best then snap one up.
#14
i have one of these. you get a couple more attatchments than the animal. very good value for money.. sucks very strongly.
#15
Hi all

As Corriessvk has correctly stated, the overdrive is the animal but with the extra attachments. So even with dixons amazing offer of 249 for the animal, this is cheaper and has more attachments - bit of a no brainer.

Ive just bought one this morning and had a quick go. My parents have owned the oringal model (which didnt last long) and now have the dc07. They love the power etc but the only problem is that it is pretty heavy to move in thick pile carpet. Although the ball makes it easier to move from side to side, it is still a heavy machine and gives your arms a good work out sometimes. When i cleaned the other carpet (the cheapest and thinnest carpet known to man) the dyson shot around with ease!.

Even with this minor negative, i still love it and would recommend it to anyone. My parents are now thinking of replacing their existing working dyson with a new one too.
#16
Can you take the handle off for storage?

I have just recently bought a Dyson DC25 and it is the best model on the Market, it is suitable for all floors, and was brilliant with our carpets, they were like new. it is so easy to empty and you don't have to buy bags, just click and empty into your wheelie bin. I would highly recommend the Dyson DC25, I bought myne on www.cdiscount.co.uk for £219.00 - Definitely the best hoover.
#18
This is a brilliant cleaner mate, no one can beat it. I bought the animal version about six months back for £ 245 from Comet. Its worth every penny, this one scuks like anything.

I don't feel it that heavier and the good thing is that you don't need to push it down the floor unlike the cylinder vaccums, where you do need to apply some force to get the brush closer to the carpet for a good clean. But with this one, its just glides and it works very very well.

The other day i had some furniture installed at my place and once the carpenters finished they used a commercial vaccum to clean the bits from the carpet, but once they left I tried running my baby and it picked up much more stuff than the carpenters one, I was really amazed by the suction.

This is hot hot offer for really good vaccum..go for it...heat added

cannot find any information online about the difference between blitz and overdrive. Infact not even on the dyson website. can anyone list the exact differences between the two units?
#21
Looks like a good deal :)
#22
These aren't as powerful as the DC14

I bought a DC25 for my daughter from CDiscount for £188.98 delivered.. It seems that every few weeks that Cdiscount have targeted price reductions so if you are able wait for a day when they have a flash sale for electrical items you can always get an even better deal.
#24
Mine arrived today, had no problem using it on stairs because it's a lot lighter then older models. I'm not the strongest person in the world but even I can hold it up whilst the head cleans the steps.

Few extra attachments then the animal as stated so well worth it. Really impressed so far and glad I stuck with Dyson after considering going for a cheaper Samsung.

Great deal that's ending Tuesday so be quick if you want a bargain.
#25
Well just picked up mine and looking in the store it was the same as the animal but alot cheaper and more bits

DItto here - just popped over to Liverpool to get one.

The 'Overdrive' is exclusive to Comet, hence not being mentionned much online and not on the Dyson website. It is indeed the Animal with a 'car accessory' brush it would seem - in a rather fetching blue (instead of orange [all floors] and purple [animal/allergy]).

5 year guarentee is a form in the box to send off to Dyson - parts & labour.

Clicks together in about 2 minutes, once you've untangled it from the 2.68 miles of cardboard...!
And yes, it sucks. It sucks hard... ;)
Mrs. just done the living room, that she hoovered with our 5-year old £40 jobby this morning. Now a lot cleaner!

Also quite a quiet running machine too.. Very impressed! Really is a dream to push around, the ball does its thing well. Heavy? It's lighter than our old one and a lot easier to manuever...

Rep + heat added.

just ordered, thanks op heat and rep for ya

Completly agree. Purchased this morning after looking at it in store the other day before it was posted on here. This is the first Dyson I have had, and I was amazed at the amount it picked up!!!! we hoovered the whole house and had to empty it twice!!! and that was after i had hoovered 2 days ago with our 6 year old VAX 6151

Cracking bit of kit, great deal

The Overdrive is exclusive to Comet, but I believe it is a superior deal to the Blitz.

The Overdrive has a motorized brushbar which can be turned off if you are doing hardwood floor etc.

You won't find this cheaper anywhere else - it is an exclusive model only available from Comet.

As previously stated - it is similar to the animal but cheaper.

Thank you to everyone for the rep, I hope you're happy with this deal.

I work for Comet and I sold 2 of these today myself, both customers thought it was a fantastic deal (which it is!).

If buying in store, as previously mentioned, I would recommend you get some Zorb. I have used it on my own carpet and it works really well.

Can't find stock anywhere, are Comet going to be getting more stock?
#32
I'm not sure. The stores in my area have good stock allocations... my store still has it in stock. Phone the Comet call center and ask if they can tell you the closest store in your area that has stock.
#33
I have an old DC07 with 260 air watts and this is 220. So unless someone with both can comment it seems I already have a stronger sucker...

I suddenly am thinking of Frankie Howard.
#34
Well what can i say about this that already hasnt been said........................... Well i'll try i think this is such a sexy bit of kit the design and thought gone onto this is excellent, picked mine up yesterday and gave it a test run and mighty impressed.... ive had 2 dysons before this one the first was the original and lasted 11 years so if this can do the same i'll be happy, I know the way i go on you think i have no life.... well as of next tue when i get married i wont hee hee (joke) am getting married though. thanks for the post...
#35
Popped into my local Comet today and they were out of stock, they did however let me pay for one and order it to come in for me.

Anyone who has missed out should go back and ask as this appears to be a great price for this Dyson.
#36
Offer ends close of business tomorrow (Monday).
#37
Hi, I'm keen to clarify that the filters are definitely the same between the Animal and Overdrive models. I am an allergy and asthma sufferer, and the Dyson website recommends the Animal and Allergy models with the cleaner exhaust (bacterisafe?) filter that traps very small particles but as previously commented, their site does not list the Overdrive or Blitz it models.

I don't think you can rely on just one set up figures, you have to look at the overall package.

I have more than one home so have the 07 at one and now this dc25 at another (thanks OP, voted HOT!!).

The dc25 is far superior in terms of actual usable suction.

Same goes against the dc14.

Look at cars... will a 400hp car always be faster than a 300hp car??? Not if the 400hp is a 2+ tonne Mercedes S-Class monster, and the 300hp car is a lighter weigh Porsche.

air watts is not the only measure.

What a load of crap! Cars also have a power to weight ratio, but what on earth has any of that to do with the suction power of a hoover? Weight has no bearing at all on 'usable suction' as you call it.

I'm willing to apologise if you can explain better how hoovers having differing 'usable suction', otherwise, you're an idiot.

Obviously I was not implying power to weight for vacuum cleaners. Only an idiot would read what I wrote and think that, and completely ignore my opening sentence:

"I don't think you can rely on just one set up figures, you have to look at the overall package."

or indeed my final sentence:

"air watts is not the only measure."

As I previously stated, you need to look at the over package, not just air watts.

I would consider agitation as the most important (especially for carpets) and then the other criteria would be air flow and product design.
