Just found this while browsing the Currys site.

DC50 Animal weighs just 5.4kg but has the performance of a full-size upright. The technology inside has not simply been 'shrunk', but concentrated - every angle and dimension re-engineered.

Four key cleaner head technologies combine to give DC50 Animal Dyson's most advanced cleaner head technology yet. It has been engineered for increased dirt pick-up across all floors. The cleaner head adjusts automatically to different floor types, and the brush bar contains carbon fibre filaments for removing fine dust from hard floors. Like all Dyson vacuums, DC50 Animal has no bag, so there's no loss of suction. With 2 Tier Radial™ cyclones, DC50 Animal has 19 cyclones that work in parallel across two tiers to generate high centrifugal forces. Unlike ordinary upright vacuum cleaners, DC50 Animal rides on a ball. It turns on the spot, steering easily around furniture and into difficult places. DC50 Animal has Dyson's latest Ball™ technology.

Went to look at one and compared to the dc50 and dc41 it looks like the build quality is pants that price for a reason

Voting cold as they're exactly the same price direct from Dyson with free next day delivery and a free additional tool as well. Bought one for myself last week:

2 things, 1) its 99p cheaper from currys lol, 2) according to the t&cs on the dyson site, the DC50 isn't on the list of eligible vacuums for the £75 of free tools

Argos are giving out the DC40 in place of the DC25. That's what I'm 'Just saying'.

I'm not bothered if it's 99p cheaper as it has free delivery from Dyson so I don't have to waste fuel driving to the nearest Currys to collect.

Also you get one free tool and I can confirm this as mine was delivered a couple of days after the vacuum itself.

your point is still not valid. the DC50 is completely different to all other Dysons on the market. It is a compact, lightweight vacuum...

What exactly is it that isn't 'valid' about me 'just saying' something?

they're completely different vacuums so you saying whatever you were saying, presumably that it's cheaper, isn't really valid as they're appealing to different people. no matter :)

I posted my 'just saying' link to show that there was an alternative vacuum cleaner available and indeed that that vacuum cleaner is a Dyson and further (if you take the time to read the thread), you'll note that buyers are being given the £369 DC40 Dyson in place of the £180 they're paying for a DC25. That certainly is cheaper but your presumption that my post was simply stating: 'presumably that it's cheaper', was and is incorrect. If you go the the link for this deal, the DC50, the spec shows that the weight of the machine is: 7.8 kg. The weight of the DC40 is 6.6kg. The difference in the two machines being, from the information available at the link, 1.2kg and indeed the DC40 being the lighter of the two machines. So with respect williammatthewjackson, it does matter, my 'just saying' post was 'just saying' more that you presumed.

You have the pomposity to state that someone's comments here are 'not valid' even though you had no idea what it was that those comments were suggesting, not that that makes any difference. Even though your presumption was incorrect, I'm not so supercilious to suggest that your comment/s are invalid.

i'm not meaning to get into an argument, and frankly I actually have more important things. Firstly, they have that info wrong. The weight of a DC50 is 5.4kg. I'm not gonna be an **** about this error as it is not your mistake made but I know what I'm talking about and I did check out your link to see otherwise I'd have had no idea what you were talking about. May I suggest in future if you're going to make a comment that simply states "Just saying" that you give some indication as to what you're trying to say. This whole fiasco could have then been avoided :)

i'm not meaning to get into an argument,
Do you honestly believe that stating that someone's comment is 'not valid' isn't likely to give rise to an argument of some sort?

williammatthewjackson
and frankly I actually have more important things.
Of course you do, we all do but we're on here.

Yes, I've checked Dyson website, they have the DC50 listed as 5.4kg. Curry's do indeed have the weight incorrectly specified.

williammatthewjackson

You didn't have any idea, you stated yourself, 'presumably that it's cheaper'. I've shown you, you were incorrect in your presumption.

You may suggest whatever you wish, I have no beef with your suggestions, it's your condescending attitude that members comments are invalid that I take exception to.

Gosport now handing out DC25's. Still happy as paid £164.50 after employee discount.
