typical, ordered one from dyson last night for £209 and it's just arrived. might call them and see if they'll send me some money back to stop me using it for a week and sending it back for a full refund

Is it worth that much hassle for a tenner? I know this site is all about saving money but I value my time more than that

Yes, thr running timr is short, but its only designed for small jobs, not for hoovering your entire house.

Dyson's policy entitles you to try it before you decide if you want to keep. I agree though - why would you open and use it when you know you're going to return it?

You can see the battery technology advancing in the V8 version. 40 minutes on normal, 25 on max. Thats blows the V6 away.
And using the motorised head decreases run times even further. If you need max power with the motor head your probably out of juice in a couple of minutes before another 3.5 hour charge!

I think you have to know what you are getting. If you are complaining about battery life, you are thinking about the wrong product. If you are thinking about the motorised brush, you are looking at the wrong product. This particular model is specifically intended for hard floors, which is what the 'fluffy' bit is all about.

I don't know about you buy I can get along way around a wooden or tiled floor in 10 minutes, especially not having to worry about cables. Moreover, if you are doing a proper clean, hard floors will need a quick vaccuum and then a mop - you don't need the in-depth vacuum needed with carpets.

My dc44 that I'd bought in Nov 14 from argos has just broken. I am out of warranty by a few months but still complained to dyson after finding out I needed a new battery and trigger unit. The response was that battery is only supposed to last 2 years for handheld units so personally wouldn't recommend this item if your planning to use it daily as a substitute for your usual vacuum.

I'm thinking of trying a gtech if anyone has any feedback on them?

I wouldn't actually bother sending it back, but if I can make a phone call when I'm sat on my butt at work and get some cash back, it's worth a phone call.

actually, they told me I can send it back after 14 days if I wanted. So yeah, entitled is right, entitled to take them up on their offer.

Yeah, the guy on the advert has the most affected voice ever, and for that reason Dani, I'm out.

I was put off by the battery time until I went in store and handled them. I found the V6 lighter than the newer models.

I'll have one for free, my living room like over 30ft long. I need a new one as what I've got now is rubbish for time I've had it... I might get another Henry, had one in past and lasted over a decade.

Tried one of those gtech's vs a Dyson and it was honestly no contest, the Dyson was way more powerful than the gtech and actually 'hoovers' things which the gtech seems incapable of. Granted the Dyson isn't as powerful as the corded Dyson's but it still wiped the floor with the gtech

ive got the V6 Animal and to be honest its an absolute pain in the arris.......frequently washing the filter due to the 'pulsing' / cutout ...and you're racing against the clock with the terrible battery life as it constantly needs charging ....for a household gadget thats supposedly hassle free, it isn't half a lot of hassle!

Bad news everyone, my mother in law has one of these and thinks it's brilliant. So it's definitely terrible and will moan at you at every opportunity.

I'll stick with my Henry, at least he is cheery and not made in Malaysia.

Yes, thr running timr is short, but its only designed for small jobs, not for hoovering your entire house.

Well, that's not correct. You can easily keep a whole house clean with this. You simply do a couple of rooms a couple of days a week, and you get the whole house done very quickly and easily.

FWIW I got a refurb from the factory outlet on the deal back in November some time, and I'm very happy with it. The most annoying thing about it is that my flatmate has abandoned using her own vacuum and keeps borrowing mine now.

I recently bought the V6 Total Clean which is similar to the fluffy, and aside from a few niggles I think it's really great.

First of all, assume 16 minutes run time - that's how long you get with one of the motorised heads, which you are most likely to be using if this is going to act as your main vacuum. You'd be surprised how long 16 minutes last as well - because you have to pull a trigger to operate it, there's no lost time for the battery. I have had no problems with running out of battery, but because it's so light and easy to pick up and use for a few minutes here and there, I don't do a single 'whole house' job that often anymore.

The wall mounting kit, if you have somewhere to put it, makes it really easy to just pick up and go, and return it to charge.

I was seriously tempted by the V8, but the 40 minute claim isn't as good as it sounds. Again, with the motorised heads which you will mostly use if this is your main floor vacuum, only last 25 minutes. I didn't think the 9 minute gain was worth it.

The only complaint (and another reason to consider the V8 because they fixed this) is that it's a pain to empty - when you pop the container open, the dirt usually needs a poke to help get it out. Because the container is quite small, you'll be doing this a lot. However, despite this, still think it's great!

Anyone use these for hoovering cars, are they easy to handle and get into small spaces? Thanks

Not as easy as an upright to clean cars, can be awkward & heavy to use in the confined space. Doesn't stop me trying though. oO

We got a refurbed fluffy from ebay on black Friday (looked brand new and when registered gave us 2 years warranty). It is fab. We've done lots of diy since including plastering and have abused this poor thing. The battery is surprisingly ok- I have only run out about twice as it is very quick to run round and I don't tend to use the max mode (doesn't need it). It is also suitable for carpets as it also comes with the standard head. I empty it after each use as it does fill up, but it's very easy to do

I am waiting for the new Vax blade to come down in price as it was £169 at Argos last week. This new Vax is a stick cordless like the one here but with nearly twice the power at 35W.The Vax add says it is as good as a corded cleaner.45 minutes runtime. Also tells you how much power there is left.I think this is a no brainer over the Dyson. The reviews are excellent.

Easy solution. Purchase this one at £199, and return it using your old reciept for £230.
