I'd hesitate to recommend anything other than LED these days.

For what reason? Power consumption? They cost a fortune and even more if you want dimmable LEDs. Or maybe I'm mistaken? I have 20 bulbs in my living room light. Can't imagine forking out for 20 led bulbs. Just as much chance of them going pop. I know from a friends experience.

Well, IKEA have stopped selling most non LEDs. They are I think the future. Less chance of "going pop" actually since LEDs overheating an no such filament which could burn out or become snapped.

We have GU10's in the kitchen (4) and living room (8). Halogens never lasted any longer than 6 months regardless which manufacturer made them, but since changing to LED's around 18 months ago, I haven't had the need to change a single bulb. £9 for a pack of 6 on eBay. The old bulbs in the hall and stairs still need replaced every 6-12 months so will be replaced with LEDs next time they blow - LED's are definitely the way forward as they are cheaper to run and still cheaper taking into consideration the initial cost and lifetime.

Fair enough each to their own. I don't have too many issues with normal bulbs.

This a great bargain if you use these bulbs, but I wouldn't use anything other than LEDs now, I was changing the old style every week

LED's can save you up to 90% off your energy bill..had a guy round who told me 5 x GU10 Halogen Spots cost £95 a year to run & 5 x LED spots cost only £5! called Newglowled..worth every penny!

I'll take a look. I was looking at dimmable LEDs very briefly and it looks like it would cost me arround £300 to fill my light with bulbs - for just 1 room.

Thinking that I very rarely use my lights during summer there is maybe and average of 4 hours per day with the lights on these will potentially last 500 days maybe.

Is it just me that finds the led bulbs generally not much to look at lol?

This is a great price, it's a shame they're screw fit. Anyone know if there are any standard bayonet fit ones for anything approaching this price?

I bought 15 Dimmable spot lights and they cost me £120 from NewGlowLED but I saved £150 per year on my energy..so they will have paid for themselves in less than an year as well as having a 2 yr warranty and they look brilliant and dim lovely highly reccommend LED's.
