EA have announced that a selection of games and other stuff will be 50% off, but I don't think they're classed as the Deal of the Week though.

The sale starts on January 18th, and you’ll be able to save 50% on all of these awesome titles:

• Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening
• Dragon Age: Origins - The Golems of Amgarrak
• Dragon Age: Origins - The Darkspawn Chronicles
• Dragon Age: Origins - Witch Hunt
• Dragon Age: Origins - Leliana's Song
• Medal of Honor - Hot Zone Pack
• Battlefield 1943
• DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue
• DeathSpank
• RISK: Factions
• Madden NFL Arcade
• Hasbro Family Game Night: Battleship
• Hasbro Family Game Night: Scrabble
• Hasbro Family Game Night: Boggle
• NHL 3 on 3 Arcade
• MicroBot
• Madden NFL 11 Max Pack
• NCAA Football 11 - NCAA Power Pack
• Tiger 11 - Favorites Course Pack
• FIFA 11 - Live Season All Leagues
• Fight Night Round 4 - Champions Pack II
• NHL 11 - 20th Anniversary Bauer Boost Pack

I'm guessing it's all regions and not just US only...

Is it just me who hates DLC? - I hate paying for a game only to discover i only have half a game and I need to pay more to see the rest ...

The only DLC I have ever bought was the GTA 4 DLC and DA: Awakenings, which in effect were all actually proper expansions and very much worth the money. I have yet to see anything approaching that level and worth me buying for any other game.

Are you kidding? This is a much better selection! The Activision deal was basically just a few REALLY old arcade games and some Guitar Hero songs, whereas this has loads of great games (some of the best on XBLA) and some good DLC.

So long as you like Hasbro Family Game Night or Dragon Age. Half of the XBLA titles are ok, but have been on offer many times before, and most people like myself will probably have bought them then. The rest is made up of sports ripoff DLC. Considering EAs massive selection of games i was hoping for more variety and no rehash of titles previously on offer in the past.

I don't hate DLC at all, sometimes it could be cheaper but we are talking about dev teams (pretty costly) making more content and then putting it through sony and MS's online service which will have Sony and MS as the middle men knocking up the price slightly but even so compare the price to a few beers, a meal out, going to the cinema, a pair of third world cobbled shoes or whatnot and these DLC aren't all that expensive. Some DLC has a bad rep for the annoying unlock key/code thing where its already on the disc but its not all like this and some is just genuinely made after the game goes gold (when it is being published so content could no longer be added). Depending on the dev you should get a full game just with more possible content on the side.

Neither of the Deathspank games, nor Microbot have been on sale before (if my memory serves me correctly). In fact, Microbot has been on XBLA for about two weeks!

The sports DLC I agree is poor, but some of the DA DLC is great. It's also never a bad thing for BF1943 to go on sale!

Both Deathspank games have been on sale before (the orginal twice). Yep, Microbot is new, unfortunately the reviews werent great and presumably it didnt sell too well (which is probably why its on sale already). If you like DA then alls good, pity i dont LOL.

BF 1943 is a sore point for me - i bought it ages ago and since i changed my 360 (for a slim model) it no longer works and i cant transfer the licence cause it wont let me redownload it :o(

That's amazingly generous of EA to make this half-price - what with the season being more than half over!

Yes they do, including me sometimes.

People play Battlefield games for years, until EA finally turn the servers off!

Thanks :)

OK, ive just checked on the dashboard and the titles listed are correct. Which means - why is there only 22 deals available - what happened to the other 3+ ?!?!? Poor show EA - you cant even count LOL

Terrible sale imho. Nothing that interests me but other people may find stuff. So heat added.

Don't get why people are hating the sale, Battlefield 1943, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue, DeathSpank, RISK: Factions, Madden NFL Arcade and NHL Arcade are all fun and poss worth a purchase depending on your taste. DLC packs are always good when they go on sale too, i dont wanna spend 600-800msp for example on mass effect dlc that lasts 2 hours and ill play once but when it goes on sale for 200msp im in.

I already have battlefield and would buy deathspank if it wasn't for the 5 games i got over the christmas period which i havent finished yet.
#19
Both Deathspanks are well worth it, NHL and Madden Arcade are a blast if you're into the sports, everyone should pick up Microbot and Battlefield, too (plenty of people play Battlefield still).

And to those saying it's worse than Activision's because of all the sports etc, was 50% of Activision's sale not comprised of Call of Duty 2 and 3 DLC? No. Alright, must have just imagined that!
#20
Not a great selection by any means which is a shame as i was expecting more of a show then Activisions deals.
#21
Just bought DeathSpank, was waiting for a price drop.

Yep, especially since this is given to you for free when you buy BFBC2 Ultimate (like I did).
#23
Time to stock up on the Dragon Age DLC methinks!
#24
Risk is rubbish IMHO.
#25
I've just purchased Deathspank after a quick whirl on the trial. Went to download the second one but it's still showing as the full 1200msp.
#26
I was hoping for the Mass Effect 1 DLC to be 50% off :(

Battlefield 1943 is a hot deal, one of the best games on the XBLA!

@omisnad you can transfer your content licenses to your new console via the Xbox website. But you should have a license linked to your Xbox live account. I'm guessing you bought the game originally with a different account?

Yeah, i understand that thanks (ive done it about 3 times in the past already). The problem is that i have 2 accounts and i switched my last GOLD account to my previous GOLD account. So the account i originally downloaded BF1942 on is now silver ...

The problem was that i could download and relink all my content downloaded content via my now silver account expect BF1942. For some reason whenever i tried to redownload it it stated that i needed a gold account to do it ?!?!?

However i changed my LIVE email yesterday in preparation to phoning MS support (my old email was no longer active) to resolve the issue and for whatever reason it worked.
So all's good now 8)

They have you well and trully encapsulated in their marketting machine then dont they ?

Its all a total rip off, not sure how new a gamer you are, but before the xbox 360, developers used to create extra content and release it for free, possibly to keep people interested in their games and possibly because the bottom line was not the most important thing in those days ?

Most of it was as good as the stuff you get nowadays. And for the proper expansions as someone else mentioned you had to pay a little bit extra which was fair enough. The fact that people will pay 50 % of the game value just to get some maps, is the reason they are getting away with this. Keep buying into their marketting if you want, I in the meantime have went back to PC games, where most of the downloadable content that is worth having is still free (thank you Valve).

Next you will start harping on about how good a service the direct downloads are on xbox live and how fair priced they are o.0

Two sides to the arguement, you have games like CoD which charge a horrendous price for only a few maps or yu-gi-oh DLC which charges you not for new cards but for cards that can be unlocked in the actual game (in essence you're paying to speed up the process), total rip-off but on the other side you have games like borderlands or obvilion (specifically Shivering Isles). Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure you pay for DLC on the pc as well as the 360 and those two games justify the price, hell secret armoury got more game time out of me than some other full games. Granted obvilion (on the pc) does have a lot more mods and (free) DLC than the xbox so I can see your point there :)
Slight tangent but another example I can think of this is ungradable RAM in laptops, why not just give us max RAM straight away rather than making us buy another £30 peice of electronics to simply lift up the keyboard and slot it in -.- it's all about the marketing

No they didn't PC games in the 90's and it's still done today to some extent had expansion discs. Jedi Knight had Mysteries of the Sith which you needed the original game to play. Interstate 76 had Nitro Riders. Command and Conquer were one of the first to pioneer "DLC" with red alert they brought out counterstrike, and aftermath both needing the original game to play.

Some games still bring out free stuff but the reason they charge is because the quality is much higher (borderlands is excellent, red dead redemption and grand theft auto), you can get around the costs with game of the year editions and being patient.

That would increase the cost of the laptop from the get go, if you are on a budget you might not be able to afford the extra cost of the ram. again over time ram gets cheaper so an upgrade at a later date is cheaper. My really old laptop that came with a 20gb hard drive now has a 120gb faster spinning drive in it for about £30 quid. no way would that have been available at that price if it was included with the laptop.

They're totally different, there's really no strategy to Arcade, it's just fun.

That said, it's still showing 800msp to me, even though the promotion is up on the dashboard (and it doesn't mention the game).

Same with Battlefield 1943.

Madden hasn't been reduced, it's been 800 for months now. It's meant to be 400.

I just checked my American account (I'm English and so is my main account), Madden and Battlefield have indeed been reduced on there. So there ya go, US-only.

Apparently, the system still isn't quite in sync...

@Aceybongos: If you're not seeing certain offers or the prices haven't dropped yet, please be patient - it's caching and will sort itself out soon. Ta!

Did you miss the part where I said "proper expansions" ? Please read things before you reply to them.

A good example would have been the ghost recon series, they released maps free of charge on the PC, along with many hundreds of other games, it has only been since the advent of Xbox 360 have we started having to pay for extra multiplayer maps.

Basically DLC these days has meant that the devs can now intentionally hold out content for no reason other than to milk the cow.

Now when you purchase a game off the shelf you really only getting a chunk of what it should be. Even PC games now are suffering - very few free DLC outside of Valve studios...and people are falling for it's a sorry state
