The Earworms Language CDs are £14.99 in stores, but at Audible.co.uk, they can be downloaded for £4.99. Languages include Arabic, Dutch, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, German, French, Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian & Italian.

The CDs teach you basic phrases to a backing track of music to help you remember, perfect for holidays. However, be warned, the music is fairly annoying, but this is probably why it works....or at least for me.

It's a very good price but I'm torn on this one. Even the best quality on Audible is poor compared with CD (or MP3 ripped from CD). For normal audiobooks it's fine but for learning languages where the nuances of sounds can be really important I'm not sure that Audible is good enough. I bought the Japanese Earworms from them but ended up buying the CD as well because the Audible version wasn't quite clear enough to be sure I was learning the right pronunciation. Voted hot on price though.

That's worth knowing, thanks. The Chinese one seems to be ok, although I am also lucky enough to have a friend helping me as well :) I think for a quick introduction it's ok, although I must admit I'm a big fan of both Routledge's Colloquial books and H&S' Teach Yourself, which cover languages in depth :)

I fear the music used on the CDs really is like a worm digging into your brain!
