Booked hertz last week who were 50% cheaper instead of trying to get a match from this lot. Looking at there prices against others it looks like they will be paying out mega £££

Would you trust this sort of offer when they debit your card as soon as you make the reservation and only refund you after the car rental period has ended ?
#7

Not with this one lol.

Are easycar.com and europcar4easyjet.com the same?

Avoid easycar - read their terms and conditions as in the event of an accident then its highly likely you will have to pay for all the damage!
#11
Well I have just booked with Europcar4easyjet here for 13 days at Bordeaux airport next August for a Compact
4-Door Manual Air Conditioning (CDMR) car £253 and cannot find ANY where cheaper!..so unless someone knows better within the next 48 hours...theres no double the difference for me...
#12
Whats your dates in aug. cheapest so far i have found is £232
#13
28th Aug to 10th Sept...would be interested to know where you have found this price Waterloo! Is your price for a compact size 4 door car ? Europcar4easyjet also offer additonal driver for £27 extra...some others are evenmore than this.

You really should check the terms with easycar:-

Unless Europcar is able to recover the cost of its damages from an identified liable Third Party, the renter/driver is liable for all damages to or loss of the vehicle occurring during the course of the rental. This liability can generally be waived against payment of a fixed charge per rental day. It should, however, be noted that for those renters who have taken out such protection, a residual non-waivable amount will be applied in the event of damage to or loss of the vehicle.

basically, if you have an accident with an unisured driver or the car gets damaged whilst parked up somewhere then YOU will have to pay for all the damages! Unless you pay a further excess which is around £10-£15 per day.

STEER CLEAR ;)

Well, fingers crossed - gone for this offer in a big way (to the tune of £90). Booked a Passat 1.9TD (IDMR) for 9 days at £230 & have sent details of the same group (IDMR - a Mondeo 1.8 LX is the example) at Hertz for the same period at £185 (actually available for £166 if using codes) - if it comes off I should get a nice car for less than a Focus (using discount codes)!

Did you read my warning in the post before yours? the reason they are cheap is because the insurance is non-existent unless you pay excess damage waiver charges.

Where does it say that it doesn't cover the insurance? From experience most Car Hire firms charge extra for damage waiver...

It does say 'Like for Like' and Easy do this with flights, hotels, parking and travel insurance...

I've had double the difference from Easy before and if you book it, they look for the same to compare... Like for Like...

They also pay out as they have done for several times already for me...

In the T&Cs.

Carjet are similarly priced but do include EDW so works out at around half the price of easycar as easycar can charge £12 per day extra.

Easy will double the difference Like for Like...

If you can rent with EDW...

Easy will include EDW...

I submitted my claim 56(ish) hours ago & nothing - nervous - anyone used this? I would be interested to get unbiased feedback (e.g. claim wrongly rejected, no reply, claim dodgy & accepted/rejected, chanced arm with discounted rate claim & rejected/accepted, took 10 days, but accepted & paid back as expected, etc.).

Email again...

I have always heard back within 48hrs...

Put your email address in with the 'send to' address as proof that it has been sent...

Email again...

Did that (after about 40 hours)...

Put your email address in with the 'send to' address as proof that it has been sent...

...but didn't do that - good idea - have some rep (even if it is too late for this time now & they have that covered - proof of transmission is not proof of delivery - i.e. we reserve the right to lose emails on our servers & not be held responsible).

Any more feedback?

PS Has anyone ever tried calling to chase a reply? I did tonight, 15 minutes after CS closed
#23
Well, I never got any email - tried calling again - again sales passed me to CS, CS wanted to pass me straight back to sales until I objected - a nice CS supervisor promised to help, so the long & the short of it is, I have had to sweat it out, I still haven't got my refund, but I reckon I will - I would think twice about trying again (as I would about using Europcar again - didn't enjoy the rental, except the lovely car).

Email Stelios directly.

He's known for his positive approach to customer care.

Well, after keeping up the volley of emails into the dark (including forwarding my last one to the three people on one out of office), I finally got my written confirmation (weeks late) & the refund - also 3-4 weeks late & about 2 weeks after they 'sent' it! All in all, not worth the hassle. Would now choose easycar over europcar - I was quoted the fuel price ex vat without being told that & have had no level of customer service. It seems that there is a link between Europcar, National & Alamo (the last 2 seem to be very close on price, Alamo always cheaper by up to £5 when I check), so I'll be giving them all a wide birth, scorching deals aside.
