I'm not sure which ones better.

Thinking of making a go for this... Not sure what to go for in terms of power though.

The K4500 charger that comes with the battery for £22.50 or some decent AA rechargeables for <£10... Anyone know how much better the KAA2HR battery is compared to 2 really good AA NiMH?

the z710 is a lot newer released in september 2006 where as the z740 was released in april 2005. Beyond that the specs are also improved ont he z710.

One review I found http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/reviews/review.phtml/1981/3005/kodak-easyshare-z710-digital-camera.phtml
isn't glowing of the z710 giving it 5/10. the z740 got good reviews at the time but is now coming on for 2 years old.

Just purchased it (z740). My Uncle's a photographer and actually recommended this to his father-in-law last year. He showed me some photos and this camera is actually highly impressive for 5mp. And the zoom is immense.

If you mix and match between kodak, amazon and ebay you can get the camera, a 2GB SD card, and 8 x Energizer 2500mah all in for £112.98. Bargain!

I couldnt see that any of the specs mentioned an image stabiliser, which would be essential for a camera with 10x optical zoom (unless of course you're going to carry round your tripod with you). That would certainly put me off buying it although for the money it does seem to be good in all other respects.

This is a cracking find Emma! :) I bought one of these last Summer for around £140 and love it to bits, its perfect as a pick up and shoot camera as well as being perfect for someone who wants to take photography a bit more seriously what with the manual mode, the extra lenses you can buy etc. I've taken some brilliant pictures with this camera (its made me look good ;) ) and the zoom on it is brilliant stabaliser or no stabaliser.

Big thumbs up for this one, I can highly recommend it!

Exactly the point I would make.

Without image stabilisation the 10X optical zoom is unuseable without a tripod.

For those wanting a large optical zoom I can unhesitatingly recommend the panasonic FZ7.

Almost a £100 difference though between this and that. Might get an extra £100 worth out of the FZ7, but for £90 this isnt exactly a bad camera. Probably the better choice for someone who's use to these compact no-fuss digicams.

Not at all the average no fuss user would gain no benefit from a 10X optical zoom without stabilisation,it simply is unusable without lugging a tripod around with you.

£70 more gets you a beano with a staggeringly good Leica lens and OIS,making zoom photography simple and quite awesome.

I am not saying the Kodak is rubbish, just that for another £70 you are in a different league with the FZ7.

I have this camera and even the very best AA get used quite quickly (maybee an hour of shooting)... I have bought a rechargable cr-v3battery and am very happy with it (about 4/5 hours of shooting).. Photography is my passion and am also very happy with this camera... great find... i got this 1 1/2 years ago and it cost £230!
