USB media player adding plug and play convenience to viewing content in near high definition quality. With the new media player,
users can easily share home-made videos, popular YouTube clips, favourite MP3 songs, and prized photos on the big screen with family and friends.
For consumers that own TVs without USB ports, the SMP-U10 will be a handy addition that makes watching videos off the computer much more convenient

cheers.... think i'll give it a whirl

This does not take an external hard drive so limited in use.

I looked at the reviews on Amazon and NewEgg and this is obviously flawed but if it covers your needs it still seems a good deal.
I liked the way that one reviewer demoted it from lounge to bedroom usage and when he updated the review it had been demoted to the guest room. Maybe he’ll update it again after guest’s complain and it will be demoted to the dog’s kennel. Bad Fido, no Hi-Def Tom and Jerry for you. :)

It does but it must be FAT/FAT32 which is the usual restriction.

Doesn't seem to list .avi files - and why do these manufacturers keep ignoring mkv ?

No it's not. MKV is whats known as a container type, just like avi and mpg. The resolution and codec used are what makes the difference between HD and SD. But... HD implies higher data rates and it all depends on the capabilities of this unit (which I'm too lazy to look at).

No! this does not come with hard drive. There is a USB port which you can use to connect external media e.g. your USB Drive.

HI

If for arguments sake you download a movie, from say a rapidshare site, and then put it on to a USB flash drive. Could you then attach it to this device and then play the movie through there on to your TV?

Just wondering, hypothetically of course!

Of course, providing the movie you downloaded is within the correct file format supported by this unit.

Most DVD Players with USB slots that support DIVX do exactly the same function.

Thought ebay deals were not allowed on HUKD!!

I really wouldn't guarantee it! We've got a brand new HDD recorded from Sony, and it will only play about half the DivX files on my memory stick... :(

I can never find the HUKD rule book that says this (feel free to point it out), but it seems the daily and weekly deals are not allowed!

Does anyone ACTUALLY know why eBay deals from major sellers are not allowed? Seems stupid seeing as this is a DEAL website! :whistling:

Yes self promotion!

Thats why ebay deals aren't allowed on HUKD

Thats been the rule for years now, don't know why suddenly some are getting through, like someone else said Mods having a day off! it is Good friday after all..

Quick make hay while the sun shines (or maybe not as the case may be on a bank holiday) Ebayers..lol

just run it through MKVtoVob and you have a mpeg4 file that it supports takes seconds
#28
How does this compare to the Xenta HDMI AV Media Player in terms of video format play back?

would this play any mp4? because I seen it says "simple profile".. but I'm not sure what this means really. how can I tell if the file is simple profile?

what about .M4V?

Thanks :)

Heat = Ordered :)

Didn't realise we were allowed ebay stuff on here (too much room for self-promotion or something)!

Also didn't realise ebay did deal of the day posts

Can you post a link to that ?

I always thought eBay / Amazon Market Place etc "deals" were banned on here.

I eventually found a couple of threads detailing HDUK rules, but the threads are so long winded and truncated that they're virtually impossible to follow, and nothing short of a joke. They need to be re-written, agreed amongst the Admins and Mods (even the Mod that abuses his "power"), posted and locked for the members to access.

Does MKVtoVob retain the same quality, I've noticed some converters seem to lose a level of quality.

If you look at the reviews, then this has loads of drawbacks. Thats the reason they are getting rid of them. You are much better off with the xenta, clyclone or better still the wdtv mini. Being able to play the file types you have is the name of the game.
#34
if youre using the older tube type tv, which we have in the living room, wont the quality be even worse using the video port connections as it has no scart?
#35
so this is cheapbut flawed in terms of playability of file types? Which is the one needed that will play everything including the kitchen sink please?
#36
If people think this is so good, what kind of stuff will you get either 720p or 1080p from ?
#37
 great stuff....not the ultimate solution...but at just over 20 notes its more than worth it .....have some big time heat

The thing is, I've got the Xenta and it wont play the mp4 files nor the m4v, thats why I was asking if this one plays them..

because it does say mp4 but so does the Xenta, and it doesn't play them.. so does anyone know why? and if this one does?

cheers :)

AS usual NI (and some Scottish) buyers get ripped off.

If they can post a little unit like this to the UK mainland then it should cost no more to post it to NI.

I am currently awaiting a postage quote to NI from them - I will update it here when it arrives.
#40
I ordered this earlier, yes its not all singing and all dancing, it does what it says on the tin, so why slate it for not doing what you want it to do? If you want a unit that does what you want it to do then purchase that one. Simples? Im buying this as i have an old pc in the bedroom that runs through my 32" tv, but the pc is fairly loud these days, so this will do me fine instead of a dvd/divX player.
