Because it's a shop so its cheaper as you pay for to maintain the shop

It normally costs 15P to list an item starting starting at less than £1. So it's a third of price listing day, rather than a half price listing day

thankyou am clearing out my wardrobes so this will keep the cost down :0

These get worse and worse imho, half price listing days should be just that...list whatever you want and pay half the price. They should either stick to that or 5p listing days...this one seems stupid, you save 5p on the listing and probably lose out on a few quid because the item ends up selling for less!

it only cost 5p to list an item starting at less than £1 anyway i do it all the time biggest tip of all is if you have something of value start it at 99p cause things only sell for their worth anyway i allways start 99p playstations xbox 360's alway go for best price anyway as it drums up intrest but saves you listing fees

Is it really only 5P? I always get charged 15P for most items starting below a pound. DVDs and CDs have their own list price of 10P but with a much higher end of auction fee.

Yep..another Ebay con....making out they are giving a HUGE offer when in effect they are saving people a few pennies.

Gone are the days of the 'propper' Ebay cheap listing days.....Ebay are just getting greedy....its annoying.

No wonder I missed this and re-posted it, there was no 'ebay' in the title. :-(
Thanks for the PM Cat

The heading of this topic is still wrong - it's not a half price listing day as it costs 15p to list items starting under a pound on normal days. Meanwhile, here's an example of terrible writing on ebay. Numerous repeats in today's UK announcement:

"List an item using the Auction-style format with a starting price of between 1p and 99p inclusive for a reduced 5p Insertion Fee this Thursday – when you start your auction listing at 99p or less!

You’ll only pay only 5p to make your item available to millions of buyers on ebay.co.uk. Kick sStart your Auction-style format listing at a price from between 1p and 99p inclusive and you’ll be able to list for just 5p per item this Thursday.

Take advantage of this offer and get selling!

Terms and conditions apply.

Regards,

The eBay.co.uk team"

I don't get it - it wants to charge me 15p for an item I have scheduled for 31 May. I think this discount is only for items in the motor accessories category... See below - a lousy offer if you ask me...

What's included?

* Only items listed in British Pounds Sterling on eBay.co.uk using the Auction-style format are included.
* Any item previously scheduled to go live on Thursday 31st May 2007 will qualify for the promotion.
* If you re-list an item on Thursday 31st May 2007 that had previously closed without a successful sale, the re-list will qualify for the promotion. If the re-listed item sells and is eligible under the eBay re-list policy, eBay will refund the Insertion Fee at the promotional price of 5 pence.

They only point that out because car sales are excluded. Even though it shows 15p at the moment they will charge 5p on the day. Wouldn't bother myself as there will just be a massive glut of crap listed and nothing will reach a fair price. No serious seller will list anything for at least 7 days after the promo. Seen it all before.

By the way, even ebay admit it. What do you REALLY think the slogan "Sell MORE for LESS" actually means?
