Viewsonic 13.3" ViewBook 130 Notebook, 320GB HD, 2GB Ram, Intel Core 2

The 1.45kg ViewSonic ViewBook 130 is light and a great companion for mobile access to your applications. It has been intentionally designed to meet the needs of a sturdy, practical and lightweight notebook.

The new ViewSonic multi-finger touchpad turns complex actions into easy one-finger, two-finger or even threefinger functions. Very quickly you can drag, rotate, scroll Web pages, zoom and rotate images, launch applications or enter/exit the presentation mode.

Light, Bright and Simply Beautiful

Ultra thin featuring 1366x768 pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio, the 13.3-inch LED backlit screen of the ViewBook 130 achieves the best balance between size and image quality for viewing wide-screen videos and multi-page documents. The LED screen is exceptionally bright with vivid colour and the manufacturing process is mercury-free, making it ecologically friendly. The compact ViewBook 130 weights only 1.45kgs and is 1.8cm at its thinnest; despite the light weight design, the standard-size floating island keyboard offers tactile and comfortable feedback even when used extensively.

Excellent price - also the GS45 chipset has hardware decoding for HD video so should play 1080p videos.
#2
Info above says gma4500 I would have thought 4500hd would be needed for hd video?
#3
2 year warranty is standard apparently (according to techradar)
#4

Hmmm the eBay description is inconsistent as it states this near the top:

Intel GS45 + ICH9-M chipset;

Does anyone know how many mp is the camera?
#8
the full details are here. It looks like this model has the HD graphics and not the standard but i may be wrong.

bought one. thanks for the spot
#10
It has one memory slot so maximum memory would be a single 4GB DDR3 memory stick.

A decent price imo for the spec
#18
very tempting, and incredibly thin.
slightly tempted to repalce my asua 1201n with this.
this has a better cpu but less powerful graphics, as the asus has an ion, what to do?
#19
That looks lovely and is a good price! It's also a very good deal if it inc. M$ win7 pro. That costs over £100 on it's own!!oO
#20
tempting
#21
Terrific Deal! Nice portable laptop for little money! wish I could vote Hot twice!
#22
I'm also wondering if you could Hackintosh this??
#23
Is this likely to have netbook-type performance, or be closer to a basic laptop? Would mostly be for running office/web software.

if it is a 4500mhd then no you cant, well technically you can but the graphics will stick in 1024x768 if you get it too work!

was just looking for a basic laptop and this fits the bill, HOT!

This will perform much better than a 1.6GHz Atom for most tasks.

It'll get nowhere near 8 hours battery life though, 31 WHr will probably give it around 3-4 hours. Still its a great deal.
#27
Interesting, definately a hot price - will blow netbooks out the water with that processor if you want to stay portable but still have a bit more screen real estate!

Reviews HERE and HEREIm intregued... What are prople's cthoughts comparing it to the Acer 4810T that was on a few weeks back @ £229.99?

This has a faster processor and is slightly smaller, lighter, and has bigger hard drive too... albeit £20 more

But the acer has 1gb more ram, a REAL up-to 8 hour battery (6.5 hours real life wifi on etc... found in use) - i.e. not a pathetic 3 and half hour affair, an optical drive and an aluminium lid.

Is this a better deal then the Acer in your opinions? Please ignore the fact one has Windows 7 as a lot of people got windows 7 with the acer and its not a concern to me personally, as I have several copies of 7 anyway lying about.
#28
Shame about the speed & battery life.

Looks nice!

should I? or not?
#29

It should have a much much better performance than a netbook (which is Intel Atom normally). In terms of battery life it will last less than a netbook. I would certainly prefer this one over a netbook.

Wow, good spec and great price. In fact, it is similar in spec to the Tosh T230 i ordered on Saturday that cost £325. NOTE TO SELF: in future, under no circumstances visit HUKD within four weeks of purchasing a major electrical item because it always ends in tears. *sigh*

Have one with SU9600 and get about 3-4 hours of battery life. Plays HD movies without problem. Does not look as nice as it does on pictures. Overall feels cheap compared to other laptops, but I paid cheap too.

Whats the GPU like?

You have a Viewbook with an SU9600?

It is made of cheap plastic, just sprayed painted silvered. very flimsy and I feel like paint is going to come off soon.

Single slot of memory is a big let down as single 4GB module cost a lot

1) Most laptops in this price band will have the same issue
2) Do you actually own the laptop?
#39
Seems to be a nice little laptop and for the price you cannot fault the spec-only gripe I have is the battery life which is not as stated in the spec.
