Its an Ereader with E-ink - I know resistive screens aren't great but you can turn the pages using the flippy bit on the side and it supports ePub, PDF, TXT, and ZIP.......

Thanks, you have literally owned my eyes. Here on this site where I came to get advice on saving money you have shared your wisdom - in fact we should all spend twice as much and we'll get better things. I'd never have guessed- better seats at the opera, business class on the plane, better rooms in hotels etc - all you have to do is spend just twice the money!
You are so right - a BMW is a better car than a Ford and costs about twice as much! Amazing. This is a complete game changer for HUKD. Star.

Depends which model of kindle.
But the reason I opted for this over the kindle was that out of the box this will read epubs (as well as virtually every other ebook file). With kindle you have to get your ebooks off amazon.
The only down side I've found with this is when the cover is on the front the magnet's quite weak so it can become displaced quite easily, als it's not the most responsive but it's not that noticeable when reading a book .
Like I said I love mine so I may not be the best person to advise you, but this is a nice alternative to most models of the kindle and while it may not have as good a screen, it makes up for it in many other ways, namely that you can get books from your library on this for free. :)

5hrs is plenty of time most laptops are only 3hrs !

iRiver claim the Cover Story battery will give you 11,000 page turns and in the past we've used E Ink devices for around 3 weeks on a single charge. Listening to music will dramatically shorten this lifespan. Charging takes 5 hours.

tbh mine lives beside my couch, :) Never had a problem with it in natural light, and can never remember any reflect making it unreadable.
