Don't be so sarcy - you can now get this for the same price the rest of us paid a week ago :)

that is cheap but single core Atom still makes me nervous.. you're relying on that ION chipset to do all video decoding. what's cheapest dual core nettop? (i realise that won't be fast enough to decode in software either but it least it'd multitask alright).
#8
I really don't need this!!!!! So stop thinking about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But there's no hurry to stop thinking about it... they've still got 300+ units to shift. Perhaps it'll be sub-£100 in a couple of weeks.:whistling:

wish was dual core but still hot hot hot
#12
im desperately trying to justify to myself why i need this :/

I would be, I got the dual core model a couple of weeks back and all though I'm sure the single core will be fine for hd playback windows 7 media center is pretty sluggish even with two cores.

I have the same setup but think windows 7 flies along, how much memory do you have as that will make a huge difference to the performace.. I have 4gb in mine

If you're using Windows 7 then I would get the dual core.

For those of us happy with Linux, the single core doesn't even break a sweat when I'm pushing through 1080p content as the gpu does all the work with plenty of cycles to spare
#16
hot but i agree less than £100 soon.
#17
All those people in the last thread who were tempted but didn't buy, buy it now!!!!

It's excellent, although the remote i ordered from e-bay still hasn't arrived!!
#18
if this has optical out i would buy it now!
#19
also revo 3610 has Optical S/PDIF port
which is lacking in this model
#20
I think Ebay item 360230424915 would do it also
#21
I don't need one...but I WANT one...!!!!
#22
I've ordered one last week...I'm returning it as I really don't need it (luckily, I decided before opening the box)
#23
is this a pc?!lol

Me too for a download/media machine... must resist, since I already have a media PC, a gaming PC, a laptop and a netbook
#25
super hot. i'm in the same boat as everyone else though, no need for it but still tempted
#26
Damm! I've been resisting this for weeks.....but I can't resist any more! Order placed.
#27

I agree 1080p is no problem for the single core acer revo go get one you know you want to.

I have the single core linux version to which I installed the Win 7 release candidate to make it a bedroom media centre to stream off my main PC and its been absolutely fine.

the MC works fine with a USB dongled remote and via wireless keyboard I can browse etc in bed if the mood takes me...

top bargain IMO
#31
 excellen deal! even for the single core :p

Incase you don't know why these are comming down in value it is because there will be the new ION 2 GPU chipset released in March which "MAY" make it's way into a new Revo machine. Also this is not a Dual Core Atom Chipset so expect if your watching HD movies for the CPU temp and power consumption to rise a bit.

Good value though but not for me thanks.
#33
Why not just whack XBMC on it? If that is all people are going to use it for then it is a good price. But to use as a HTPC then you need atleast a Atom 2 (Dual Core)

xbmc live

Would one of these USB to optical audio work with XBMC Live?

My cpu sits at 32C when watching high def content

I really want one of these now and I just bought a WDTV Live. I downloaded XMBC and its amazing the only thing is I would need to get the one at £199.99 as it has optical out for my AV system, but this is a great deal its about £100 for the motherboard and the processor on their own so this deal is fantastic.

yep but can you imagine how much the Ion 2 versions will cost for the first few months :)
#39
Hot, it's a quiet, small PC that sits behind a TV (or on a desk), can handle 720p through HDMI, has loads of USB ports and it costs less than a Wii, what more can one want?
