Been looking for a 17" laptop and seems like it has quite good specs compared to others like the Dells at this price.

Well PC Pro just did a labs test on £300 pcs, maybe this will help people compare
banned#3
where is a 17 screen model in that comparison?
banned#4
i think for the price this is good, comparable to the dell inspiron 1525, only the cpu is better on the 1525, by how much and the difference it will make......................who knows

HDMI,
250GB HD

I wasn't saying there was, but it's a good quick way to get a feel for if the deal is hot or not as those were all cheaper. As with anything the factors in choosing a laptop vary by person. For some it's the weight, others it's the power etc. If the size of the screen is what you judge on then that's your personal preference.

It's a good deal but not a Dell. They're all Dell obsessed on this site I'm afraid. It's their problem, not yours!

Sorry am I missing something the PC Pro comparison did NOT include VAT:?
The PC Pro Labs winner is £400.00  Am I reading this incorrectly :whistling:

Some brands and model types will always get a cold shoulder as they are better built and hence cost 10% - 20% more than Dell. Only discerning buyers will pay extra for the quality but they are in the minority... . but keep them coming as the minority will always appreciate it even when cold.

Looks pretty good to me. Decent enough spec and certainly a good deal if your main criteria are big screen and full keyboard with keypad, pretty much essential for anybody who needs to do data inputting on a regular basis.

Not for me, because those aren't my major wishes, but if they are, then it's hot!
#12
Personally more of a smaller is better feind but this is a stonking price for the kit you're getting

plus, I used to have an ASUS lappy and never ever had a problem with it in 3 years

Yes PCPro give pre vat prices as they are a business magazine, however the cheapest on there was £300 (inc Vat) rising to £400 for the labs winner. as has been said before the link wasn't posted as examples of hot prices but to give some light on why others may not see the one posted as hot (depending on what they are looking for).

The problem with a lot of these laptop deals is that there are different specs for different people. I don't think anybody should buy a 17" laptop unless they really want/need the extra screen size, but if you do need the extra size then it's not that benificial to compare with smaller laptops, no matter how good a deal they may be.

As an exmaple, I drive a Diesel Mondeo estate, it's got a big boot , 45-50mpg and loads of legroom in the back for the family which to me is essential. If somebody says that a Golf Gti is better for the same money, then yes it's faster, and possibly better equipped, but I won't fit everybody and everything in so it's not as good for me.

I’ve gone off this deal; the only phone number for ebuyer is a 10p per minuet line:x So if you need help it could be expensive. not voted

You don't get cheap prices for nothing, something has to give usually.

To true:)

Goodgrr You made me laugh. I judge the value on a like to like basis , i.e I wouldn't compare a 15" screen laptop model to a 17" screen laptop on price as that would just be nonsense. Like I said like for like.
With regards to screen size.It was the size I was looking for ( as mentioned in title). It suits my requirements. I wasn't judging the laptop on the screen size as you implied.

I'm glad I made you smile. lol

I wasn't implying you were judging the laptop on the screen alone, I was mearly pointing out that different people judge value differently based on their needs. The original question was why are people voting this cold. As people add value in their minds based on their needs I was trying to help you understand why THEY may vote that way. Personally I voted this hot as it's a great deal imo.

Here's another 17" to compare
