A not bad mid-spec PC, but it is not an awesome price, when you consider it is the previous generation of Intel CPU and supporting motherboard, it also will need a semi decent graphics card to make it games worthy (£90-170), and you will need a Windows licence (£70) monitor (£80), keyboard (£15) and mouse (£10) of course, so it will be about £480+ altogether, unless you have these extras to transfer from your old PC, you'd be better off buying an off the shelf system for a gaming PC, or getting a newer, lower spec model for an internet PC.

Cheers for reply mate. Would love to be able to make one up myself. Might just take my old desktop to bits n mess about with it.

I wouldn't call this mid spec.

I agree a different route would be better such as:

Acer i3 System

Add a 1GB Ati 5670 and that BenQ 22" 1080p monitor comes out at £518.59 and would be a good mid range machine.

But if you want a web system, 17" crt off freecycle, reasonable keyboard and mice kits can be had for £15 and install linux and it would be a cheap machine.

Now out of stock and £20 more! Any good alternatives in the price range?

Good deal if you have a copy of windows already and want a good machine that will breeze every day tasks.
#11
Who needs Windows7 when there's rock-stable Linux!
#12
Does anyone know if the drivers for audio and integrated graphics are included with this desktop?
Thanks

We actually use this machine in work. Have about half a dozen or so of them now. We do development on them and for that and other general business tasks they're great. They would be crap for games or anything graphics-related but for us they're perfect. In fact we have a couple set up with Server 2008 R2 on running a few virtual machines and instances of SQL server and they seem to be coping fine.

One thing to note which caught us out: if you want to stick an extra hard drive in one of these you will probably need to splash out a couple of quid on an adapter for the PSU. It's only got 2 of the SATA-type power connections and they're used by the hard drive and DVD drive. The rest of the connections are the older 4-pin type. No big deal but caught us out here.
