  They allow you to get Internet through your mains socket.
  
  Much better for streaming/etc than wireless alternatives.

  You plug one of these into a socket near your router with a network cable running from your Router into it. You then plug the 2nd adaptor into a socket in a room that you want internet in and run a cable from the 2nd socket into your computer/laptop/TV/hub/etc.
  
  Router > 1st plug
  2nd Plug > whatever your feeding internet to.

  My mistake, you are absolutely right, didnt notice that you can plug into these as well, so you dont lose use of the socket

  I bought a couple of these last year and they work very well. I use them in addition to Devolo's and they work together with no problems. Having passthrough improves my network speed because I don't have to plug these into an extension socket (I plug the extension socket into the passthrough adapter instead).
  
  If you go for this offer, it might be worth buying a little extra (e.g. memory cards) to top-up to just over £50 to get free delivery.

  My existing wireless signal does not reach my new loft conversion. Can I use other home plug hard wired into my PC(which is also in the loft) and the FREE wireless hub to transmit wireless signal in the loft so the smart phone, iPad or laptop can use the wireless signal?

  Total bargain - I already have 4 of these - just bought this though for the PS3 so i can stream HD to it more reliably
