Nice wine, i went to chiquitos at the weekend (never been before) and ordered a bottle of house rose. And they brought us an Echo Falls to the tune of £16. Cheeky robbing b******s.

That mark up is ridiculous.

LOL it always shocks me how resturants charge whatever they want for wine, are there still places where you can bring your own? :D
#3
Yeah i think you can but most places charge corkage fee's which are supposed to be similar to the price of their cheapest bottle. Grrrrr :(

That mark up is ridiculous.

Nevermind the fact that their overheads must be ridiculous, energy bills of 5-10k + per annum, staff costs, licencing, business rates etc etc etc.

Its all relevant.

Yep but if they sell wine corkage charge will be more than the wine if you only drink cheap rubbish like echo falls. Corkage charges are between £5 - £15 per bottle although some places charge per person.

Hardly to the tune of a 400% markup pal.

This is an ok wine at a bargain price. I suppose you only drink Screaming Eagle?

The price is cheap, the wine is not good at all.... expensive marketing campaigns and high sugar levels keep the wine novices coming back for more of the vile stuff!

Sugar levels in Echo Falls are about 5x that of a decent wine, even at entry level.

Personally I prefer a good Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon or even a blend Cab/Merlot/Shiraz

I would highly recommend any Echo Falls 'connoisseur' tries something else and introduce themselves to real wine.

A highly recommended aussie red would be something like this.... Tiddy Widdy Red
