Same here, never seen them before, but it was lovely seeing them all floating up into the sky as we drove up the valley. I did wonder how many were Eco friendly though, but I guess until they stop selling the others people will still buy them.

My friend pointed out the safety aspect, something about the wax splashing down on the people below. What's that all about?

Buy a chinese lantern and kill a cow
(appartently stupid cattle eat these landed lanterns and the metal wire gets stuck in their throats - these things are a real problem for farmers)

Your friend need not worry, no wax, its a piece of card/thin piece of wood soaked in spirit that you light.

I think Stockport tried to take down the planes last night. Thankfully the planes seemed to stop at 12pm for a while.
I never knew the lanterns we so hard to light - what a pain!
Not a bargain - just the same price everywhere or less

I dont know to be honest, they may be fine for cattle but any heat source that remains warm even when extinguished and then lands could cause an increased risk of combustion. Also even though they are degradeable? I would like to see you go up to a police person in the street and just drop one infront of him and walk off, you would be hauled up for littering and the excuse of "dont worry its degradeable" wouldn't wash, so why does it matter that these are unseen rotting in a country field. Its still littering, but out of sight?

The title of the product uses the word 'Eco' inferring this product is environmentally friendly - when it's not. If others on here are dumb enough to believe that and make up their own concessions to it, that's their issue. Tool.

You are making a fool of yourself. Everyone knows that the term 'eco friendly' is a relative one.

What would these be an environmentally aware alternative for exactly?

If you can't work that out then you are really beyond help.

I'm not looking to work it out, I'm asking your opinion on the matter. Try and give an answer next time without any thinly veiled insults.
