Will this need a VESA plate?
#2
This looks like only two bolts will secure it to a wall.

Are two bolts strong enough to hold a 40" TV?

What's a 40" TV weigh, about 20Kg max?
Two rawlbolts into a brick or block wall would hold me and my car; but into a plasterboard wall even with the right fixings, 20Kg I might be a bit less comfortable about, although decent fixings will probably be OK!

thanks

It's now £11.98 including delivery!!.. I googled the product dimensions + Eco-Mount and there are traces of it having been sold at Homebase & Argos for £99.99.. It better bloody have a VESA plate!

Worth a punt... Thanks OP!

Well, my Bravia 40" is going onto a brick wall so I'm taking the plunge and hoping it holds the 18Kg with 2 bolts.

Use something decent like sleeve anchor type fixings for peace of mind :-)

The item they dispatched to me was this one: (EL403B)
from the box: VESA compatible: upto 400mm x 300mm, Holds up to 40kg!/88lbs & Has Three (3) Bolts!

Tip: only order this if you need it: I thought it would be good to wall mount the TV (xmas gift) onto a brick-backed fireplace.. thats where my fantasy ended - much more faffing/ expense involved.

(must be about 8kg to post back)... so as I said this is a fab deal, for Argos' bulk carrier deal with the Royal Mail. (_;) ...I Feel i need a bigger drill already!

(Great deal.. but check!!)

cam this be returned to Argos directly if not right ?
#18
Tempting at this price, might buy one for the future. Wonder if LL will be ok with a few drill holes. Could always fill in after I guess..
#19
good price, my 50" tv is on the wall using only 2 bolts and the mount can be swing right out from the wall, its fixed to brick wall though and i know ma stuff,
if your planning on fixing this to a plasterboard wall make sure you fix it to a stud or dwang or your tv wont be on the wall for long,

Yes, but if you don't have a bulk carrier contract with the royal mail (like Argos do) you'd probably be better offf keeping it since it weighs a tonne! :)
(and no you can't take it back to an argos branch)

I think he/she means taking it back to the Argos store. For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than google it for themselves - you can find the answer here

Kind of hard to see from the description in what axis it will move. It looks from the picture like you could only tilt it from flat on the wall to angled down - i.e. not tilt it in a horizontal plain... any ideas anyone?

I bout this and put up our Bravia 40". The instructions are rubbish and took us ages to figure it out, or to get it the right way up. But it's all up now and is fine, TV sticks out about 12cm odd, and you can tilt/ turn and lock into place. Good price and heavy duty, argos still selling this for 79.99.

Okay, so I got mine and attempted to mount my 40" Bravia today.

First attempt - FAIL - There is a 1.5 inch gap between my plasterboard and breeze block, this was enough to give the bracket some movement. I removed it before any damage was done.

Second Attempt - FAIL - Cut out plaster board and replaced with 2 inch x 10 inch piece of timber, screwed timber to breeze block and bracket to timber. Held fine until I turned the TV its full axis - with the TV positioned either side it of the bracket it was too heavy and the extending arm tilted approx 1 inch towards which ever way the TV was situated. Also the arm sticks out about 10-12 inches from wall so just does not look right.

Third and final attempt before sticking the thing on Ebay - PASS - Took away the extending arm and attached the bracket direct to the plate attached to the wall, the TV still turns slightly when I want it to.

One other thing, if you have a Bravia then you may have to unscrew one of the existing bolts on your TV to bolt on the bracket as the screws are incorrect size for it(for my model anyway).

All in all, I voted this hot last week before attempting to fit it but its not worth it for a larger TV, and even a small one will stick out a bit too much for a living room.

Hope this helps

It states up to 42" on the box but depends on the weight I suppose.

It states upto 40" on the box, though I doubt it would make much difference for the mounting (max 400x200mm VESA, so check first!) so long as the TV isn't too heavy (probably more of a problem for Plasmas). although it will limit how far it can pivot.

I know that there were two of these that were posted on the same day (including this post) a couple of weeks back, from argos/ebay. I was going to buy the first one (that got hot straight away) but just missed it.. ie. the ebay auction had sold out.

Deal is here (different product picture from Argos, but 'simmilar item):
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/tilt-and-turn-flat-panel-tv-wall-br/849178

Then i dug about a bit, and found the thread that we're looking at here, and ordered one.

This thread was started on the same day as the link above, but didn't reach the HUKD front page until today. So it may be possible that you ordered a different ebay listing/product!? (was it defo. the same item?.. i know you'd ordered the same time as me :|)

(the specs for the one i got from this argos/ebay listing linked to from the 'go to deal' button here are linked to in post #24)

hope that makes sense! X)

Yeah I ordered this well before it became hot.

I ordered from the link on this page and the bracket is exactly the same as in the photo's that you've uploaded.

I'll see if the wife has chucked the box out when I get home and post a picture, min edefo states something like 20"- 42", I remember this as the spec on Argos site stated up to 40".

:)
