Same make John Lewis were selling for £14.00. Use vouchers for further savings (subject to minimum spend).

Fit more in your recycling bin by using the Can Crusher! The Can Crusher squashes drinks cans down to a manageable size and saves on storage space at home. Easy to use, simply place the can on the platform, and pull down the soft grip handle.

The Can Crusher also comes with a built in bottle opener, and screws for wall mounting in your kitchen.

Maximum can size is 7.5cm x 16.6cm

Size: 32cm x 10cm

Just what I need, I can't use my foot to stamp on all those 100's of cans lying around! Oh, and the built in bottle opener will be handy for opening all those cans!

would these be any good for crushing tins - like bean tins - or are they only for coke cans (ie the thin ones) ?

Different make and postage is £3.95 unless you get it delivered to a store. (Also Ethical Superstore supports and sells only Fair trade, Organic, and Eco-friendly goods).

Only thin ones (the sort that can easily be crushed by standing on)

An over engineered solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

But they have them in store, postage cost nil.

So is it made from fair trade or organic steel?

More junk that will end up on landfill, not very eco friendly really...

Well it looks exactly the same as the one i have from wilkinson, it is also "eco-friendly"
as it cruhes cans and the crushed cans then take up less space on the recylcing! plus its carbon neutral if i walk to my local store to collect!

I think they probably just have different packaging! for the gullable:thumbsup:

Think the few of you voting cold seem to forget this supports fair trade, most of the other cheaper ones don't. Gets my vote!
#16
Crushed cans cannot be recycled and go to landfill. It's 'greener' to leave them whole.

Really? Where did you find that out from?
#18
Beg to differ - this is taken from the Goverment Recycling site:

Metals - usually separated into: aluminium (drinks cans) - non-magnetic, and steel (food tins) - magnetic. Aerosols can be made from either
test by using a magnet.
wash and "CRUSH" (my emphasis) cans before recycling. Only recycle clean aluminium foil. Never pierce or crush aerosols even when empty
only put empty aerosols in recycling schemes i.e. when you cannot get any more out by pressing the button
crisp wrappers (metallised plastic film) cannot be recycled. Metallised plastic springs back when scrunched

This is true. We are told not to crush cans on Merseyside otherwise they go to landfill. Same goes for shredded paper. Something to do with the way the machinery sees the items.

from ethical superstore website
Q: is this item fair trade?
A: Sorry but this item is not manufactured by a certified Fairtrade producer. We are still looking to find a source of can crushers that our both eco friendly and fair trade. Andy!

So its probably the same as the wilkinson one then?:w00t:

I asked the ethical superstore -the following question
Q: is this item fair trade?
A: Sorry but this item is not manufactured by a certified Fairtrade producer. We are still looking to find a source of can crushers that our both eco friendly and fair trade. Andy

So its not fair trade or ethically made. just eco-friendly like every other can crusher. I dont even think you can buy fair trade steel or ethically made steel either!
