Ok, this deal is for a cheap laptop, not an all singing and dancing model, but upgraded to an acceptable functional model for those on a tight budget.

First of all, there is the basic ECS 321 laptop from Morgan Computers priced at just £199.74 plus £11.75 delivery:

Intel Celeron M 350 (1.3GHz) processor, 256MB DDR RAM
40GB hard disk and combo CD-RW/DVD ROM
14.1" TFT colour display (1024 x 768 resolution)
Touchpad pointing device, integrated sound and speaker
4 x USB 2.0 ports, parallel, serial, VGA and PS/2 ports
Internet and e-mail hot keys, Kensington lock security slot
Brand new
One Year Warranty

Includes free Toshiba multimedia audio USB hub

Supplied with MS Windows XP Home, Microsoft Works 8.0, NTI CD/DVD
Maker and Bullguard Anti-Virus (trial version)

ECS Elitegroup are a large Taiwanese OEM manufacturer of motherboards and
notebooks - supplying many household names in the computer trade

However, the small amount of RAM included will be insufficient to run WinXP efficiently, but this can be simply upgraded with an additional 512MB from Crucial for £17.61 inc VAT & delivery

Total price: £199.74 + £11.75 del + £17.61 memory = £229.10

Cold.
Very low spec, and not much use unless you have very low expectations & demands :-(

Morgan messed me about the last time I used them, recently, so I won't be using them again

The machine linked by Twinkle is indeed a far better deal, even though it is a low spec too, it would be much more worthwhile upgrading memory, resulting in a far better machine at the end of the day.

I can't argue with that - I thought it was a good deal when it was £5.87 more a couple of weeks earlier

But for those on a tight budget, it's still almost 10% more than the above deal even after the price reduction. :)

Cold due to - price vs spec vs brand vs retailer (had issues with Morgan in the past)
