When nursery teacher Jenny escapes to the country for a relaxing weekend away with her boyfriend, she is unaware of a romantic surprise he has in store. The location is perfect. A lake enclosed by woodlands, seemingly deserted. The scene is set for a picturesque proposal. But before the happy couple can enjoy the retreat, their peace is shattered by a gang of violent youths.

What begins is a shocking and unrelenting game of cat and mouse, as Jenny is forced to fight back against her aggressors.

one of the worst endings to a film I have ever watched.

I was absolutely livid after watching it!!

:x
#2
I was pretty disturbed!
#3
good to see Blurays start to come below the £6 mark... sub £5 after christmas!!
#4
Ending is pertty unbelievable and rubbish.

Ned behaviour all too believable nowadays.

Definately a disturbing film, so well worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

Teacher lady pretty tasty too!

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It was a very solid thriller that had more depth than I was expecting. But I agree, the ending was a bit silly, but I can see why the writer/director went with it.

Probably not to this extent, but you're not far wrong.

As a film, I find the idea of it disgusting though, it's torture porn basically just like Saw, Hostel and all that other crap.

They don't know how to make a decent horror film these days, so they churn out this garbage instead. Stephen King himself has said that it's a shameful and worrying epidemic which just seems to be growing worse all the time.

It's harrowing, and the ending was actually very suitable. It was social commentary on how neds get to become neds in the first place and how nedness continues to go unchecked.
#14
i went to see this with my sister at Cinema, and she walked out at the first gorrie bit, not for the faint hearted!!!!!
i liked it though!!

Because of course, Stephen King's books have never featured disturbing violence or grisly deaths or anything like that...

I don't think he's the best person to be quoting. And what's wrong with torture porn movies? Hostel 1 was a pretty decent, scary ride!
#16
The only ending that is on par with The Mist for making you die inside. Dont watch this if you are in a good mood and want to stay that way.

Hostel was excellent, the first saw movie was very good with very little violence never mind extreme

Excellent film. I watched it very recently. Anybody outright slamming this film was probably expecting a typical, light-hearted "kill lots of people in sick and unique ways" horror film. You missed the point.

Both movies were good but the endings..ouch.

Good price though for a pretty surprisingly entertaining film.

Other great British horrors ( 28Days later, Shaun of the Dead, The Cottage, Wicker Man, American Werewolf in London to name just a few.. :-)

They pretty obviously weren't saying it was morally right, they were saying they thought it right as an ending for the film.

I don't see the problem with the ending, I quite liked it. This film was a really 'pleasant' surprise in quality and effectiveness as a genuinely 'horrifying' horror film.

To add to other comments about UK horror films, check out The Descent and (really off the wall and certainly not for the anti torture porn brigade) Boy Meets Girl.

ah so a daily mail reader are you, take a response completley out of contex

of course i was meaning in regards the film,if you must know i dont watch the news,i find it depressing-i enjoy horror films-i enjoyed this horror film very much,it did what a good horror film should imho extract the feeling of horror from the viewer-the ending in todays society and for a horror film especialy, was approprite..

this type of film shouldnt have a happy happy joy joy typical hollywood ending-you want that leave this genre to folk who enjoy it and go back to high school musical or whatever disney film is floating your boat

Not to this level they haven't.

I thought the first Saw was a really well made film and found Hostel 1 to be quite clever also, I didn't like it but I understood the reasoning behind and in my opinion that German who met his maker in the toilet cubicle at the end got off lightly, I would have done much worse to him. The second Hostel however was a shameful and pointless disgrace and I'm surprised that it made it through the censors as it did. I have played the uncut version of Manhunt 2 and it has never really bothered me but that one scene from Hostel 2 (and I think most people who have seen it will know the one to which I am referring) has stayed with me ever since and I don't think I will ever truly be able to get it out of my head.

I know there are worse films out there, Irreversable for example, but those aren't mainstream films are usually targeted towards a minority audience. Hollywood promotes this garbage towards the mainstream, and in particular 18-25 year olds, and I think it's crossed quite a serious line over the last few years and only seems to be getting worse.

I meant garbage more in the general sense than specifically relating to this film, I think you know what I meant though. ;-)
