Been searching the ryan air £8 flights looking for a girlie weekend somewhere nice n cheap, came across this deal while checking out Edinburgh to Oslo, so if your travelling from Edinburgh (not sure about any others) to Oslo from the end of Jan all the way through Feb you can grab flights for either £1 or £2, under the £8 deal, so no taxes/ check in fees etc. It says from £8 on the main page but if you search for these dates its cheaper.

Just a word of warning. Travelled there for 4p from Liverpool in November last year (had a lovely time) the place is madly expensive and the airport ryanair use is 2 hours on the train from oslo (the train costing around £50 for 2 people) so be careful if you are looking for a bargain holiday!! :)

'nice n cheap' and 'Norway' don't work in the same sentence. But it is a good deal if that's where you want to go - just wouln't choose it for a budget holiday though.

Thanks for the info, never really thought of going there until i saw the flight prices, might rethink it if its really expensive

My aunty and uncle were over for christmas, got back and had to clear 3ft off their drive. They live 40mins or so south of oslo.

Is expensive out there but a beautiful place to visit, great for skiing. Not sure what prices are like for accommodation etc but cant see it been cheap.

This site cracks me up. People have nothing better to do than type pointless, unfunny posts and then edit them to make them even more unfunny.

OP please note, regardless of smart alec comments who want to amuse themselves, Oslo will be just as cold if not colder then here in February, with a very large chance of snow.

See here for average weather info - http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/city_guides/results.shtml?tt=TT004080

On average it will not be above freezing in February. Saying that as above poster mentioned they are much better at dealing with the conditions over there, rather than making it the end of the world over here.

Hope you have a great time!

Lol. Can I suggest that the op thinks twice about oslo as a cheap destination especially with the dire euro to gbp rate. Its probably the most expensive european trip I've ever made. Drink is especially expensive.

However it is stunning country and worth a trip if you have pots of cash.

Almost as funny as the previous posts..... Since when did Norway change over to the Euro.? Do people engage their brains before they post...??

Im not saying anything about the euro comment but the exhange rate when i was out there in the summer was bad. Have had 13 Kroner to the pound a few years back, just over 9 when I went last year.

Surprised more don't come over on the cheap flights and good exchange rate (for them) and wipeout our shops thinking theyre so cheap.

EDIT: Was the most expensive place in the world but heard Denmark was becoming the same if not worse and yeah looking around £8 for a pint in most places!

It is actually possible to have a budget European break in countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark if you pack a tent and go camping. Great facilities/infrastructure and amazing natural landscapes make it an ideal camping holiday destination. JUST NOT IN FEBUARY!

Don't worry, if they have snow, they have grit:whistling:

Opps *brain reengaged* - yes it was the Krone (In my defence my visit was 12 years ago , well before mass Euro adoption).
But my point was that Sterling hasnt weathered the storm any better against the Krone than the Euro which still means it not the ideal
"girlie weekend somewhere nice n cheap

Ok so in my post i said somewhere nice n cheap didn't quite mean it like that, meant some cheap flights etc (hence reason for my post!) Also in regards to the weather not fussed if it's cold with snow, learnt to cope with that here over the past month

went there in Feb a few years ago. Unsurprisingly cold & snowy but they are geared up to deal with it very well. It's quite a small but attractive city. Cost of eating out not TOO bad if you choose carefully. 2 hour transfer from airport, tickets very expensive. Hotels also a major cost. Overall I'm glad to have gone once in the winter but wouldn't repeat it any time soon due to the cost.
