Suitable for a gift as recipient registers the tags to their own details.

Ok, it doesn't stop some scumbag from stealing your bag, but it provides a bit of protection and peace of mind for between £5.50-£7.75 and is lifetime (unlike i-trak, which is yearly and therefore costs more)

And now for the spiel . . .

Why do travellers need a Trace Me Tag?

It provides a simple and straightforward solution to the nightmare travellers face as they stand by the rotating luggage carousel at the end of each journey. A credit card sized tag carrying a unique serial number and bar code is attached to each piece of luggage.

The passenger activates their tag online by registering their personal details into the World’s Largest Property Register – a completely secure database used by airlines, law enforcement agencies, lost luggage and baggage handling offices across the globe.

Without the security risk of putting one’s name and address on a suitcase an owner can be quickly and easily identified and contacted wherever their bag is found.

As soon as the baggage handler scans the barcode or enters the serial number an SMS text and email are automatically sent to the owner notifying them of the location of their bag. It is fast, efficient and effective.

Bit of confusion, website says £2.50 postage, but I was charged £1.50

Could someone stealing the bag, not just... throw away the tag?

That was why I specifically mentioned it didn't stop theft, there are also thousands of genuinely lost bags at airports etc

It should be worth a tenner just to get the SMS's and texts so you can follow the holiday you wish you'd had but your bag actually did :D

According to the reviews on Amazon, they snap off. I would say that that is a pretty major flaw!

I only saw one review that said that to be fair, surely if it was a major fault it'd be everywhere? I might be wrong though, you've written "reviews", so guess you found more?

waste of time and money in my opinion

Two out of eight reviews say that they break. One of those reviews said two of them broke in one holiday and half of the positive reviews are yet to use the product but say it feels flimsy. A product like this should never break no matter how much punishment they are given. As soon as it becomes detached from the bag it is pointless. How difficult would it be to make one out of plastic that didn't snap so easily? I was considering getting some before I read about the problem.
