While it's a manana in the UK, and won't be a priority, do be aware that in the US the replacement/upgraded Sony BDP-S370 is out (it's the one that's firmware upgradeable to play Blu-ray 3D discs, of which Avatar is bound to be an early one).

The S370 is c$160/£105 at US Amazon versus c$130 for the S360 - ie the c£85 that the S360 got down to in the Xmas/NewYear promos. (Haven't studied what other spec changes there are, but thought I should just raise it in Avatar's context.)

Thanks for your comments and noted, however the 3D Avatar as I understand it wont be retailing till November.

Also worth noting gthat the next model (due out soon) the BDP-S370 will also support Youtube/Flickr streams and media play back from USB or streamed via DLNA

The steelbook bluray is actually £24.99, not £14.99 as mentioned in your post. So even better value.

The new Sony is out on the 12/04/10, just to further what the first poster stated...

£180, apparently. I'm hoping these S360 blu ray players will drop again in price (like they did around Christmas time), what with the new release.. fingers crossed, as I'm not personally interested in an Avatar bundle, but that's me :)

i think only the BDP-470 & BDP-570 models support 3D Blu ray

i wouldnt pay £180 for the BD-370 when the BD-360 is under £100 when u sell on the avatar bundle.....

the BD-360 is still a very good player for the cash...

PS: Just to clarify as some later posts have rightly raised questions over my posting #2 in this thread. Many sites say the S370 will be 3D firmware upgradeable but Sony certainly say the S470 is the 3D Ready model (ie firmware update will make it compliant) and that is $200 currently at Amazon US (though reported as a $20 price delta over S370). As I said it's definitely a manana but as THIS post was about a Sony Blu-ray player WITH Avatar (ie "the" 3D movie of the moment) I thought it worth raising the 3D issue.

(I picked up the idea of the S370 being firmware upgradeable to 3D from the CES reporting. Maybe the journalists were confused re the firmware to do some OTHER enhancements, and the S470 is indeed the baseline for 3D. There were even some suggestions the S360 might be firmware'enable'able in the same way the PS3 is to be!)

A good deal but the best Blu-ray player is the PS3 and definately getting the Blu-ray 3D firmware upgrade.

Best for quality, best for price, best for sound, best for startup time, best for noise or just because it can be used as a games console too?

No, you've quoted it as being "priced at £14.99". It's NOT priced at £14.99, it's priced at £24.99 - the standard 2 disc Blu Ray is priced at £14.99.

It WAS priced at 14.99 as it WAS the 2 disc steel book! Since posting my deal originally they have now updated it to the Steelbook combi pack! So we are/ were both right! So this is even better than originally quoted and posted.
