I saw this in HMV the other day, didn't note the price but I did see it states 'extended edition', anyone know what the extra footage is?

Marketing only, this makes interesting reading, the original UK release had some editing to maintain a PG rating.

All it really means is it is uncut.

£6.99 still seems a lot to me for such an old film - in any case it's worth checking if there's any validity in this comment on that avforums link:
Be aware that this BR suffers from a serious picture defect- best way to describe it is constant cine-wobble. It is horrendous.
Avoid at all costs.

Oh well, it's still a cracking film - and at 6.99 for the bluray it's stll cheaper than the VHS and DVD versions that I bought at the time - and as a film it will still be as classicly fresh and lovely to me as the first time I watched it - even released today it could still hold its own. Hoping that the quality is good so as to do justice to some of those beautiful shots, and those cine-wobblers better keep them selves to them selves. (-:

I was talking to my G/F the other night and when she said she'd never watched it, It seemed like a film that was worth getting a blu-ray copy of :)

Picture isn't great for a blu-ray but the colours are still vibrant. At £6.99 you could view it as a cheap night in :)
