Is there actually £5 credit or £4 plus a package of calls/texts for the other £1
#2
How long does the credit last if you don't use it? Do they de-activate the sim if unused?

I have a data payg Sim from ee eBay from approximately 4 year's ago the top card has a date of expiry showing 2024 when I tried to use it last month it was dead! I spoke with ee via live chat and also instore they both said the expiry date refers to the top up card only and all Sims expires after 12 months!
Why would any network need to put expiry date on a top up card! That's to dupe people into buying thinking it's a Sim expiry date! That's why I'm always voting cold for these Sim offers!

That is why they put expiry dates on SIM cards, to stop people buying up and hoarding the SIM cards for later use, each SIM card has a number that mobile operators recycle on inactive accounts, mobile numbers are limited.

You get £4 plus the Talk and text pack. This packs costs £1 per 7 day period until you either change or cancel it

You need to make at least 1 chargeable call/text every 120 to keep the SIM and credit live. This runs from when you buy it as I add the credit before it leaves here.

Networks have always had an expiry date on SIMs that are not used. The reason for this is because there is not an infinite amount of telephone numbers and they re-use old unused ones.

I think everyone knows a sim deactivates after few years max so if the top up card had more than a few years I would think it's just for the top up card and not for the sim tbh, and the other giveaway is the Expiry date which is on the top up card, and not the card that the sim is stuck to.

There wasn't a expiry date on the Sim just on the top up card, and I don't hoard Sim cards, only had one! I thought it would be handy to have a backup Sim at hand for emergencies etc, but obviously I've learnt it's a waste of time and money!

so can you put a stop on the data pack straight away and essentially have £4 credit on the phone for an emergency PAYG? thinking of getting one for daughter- dont really want a contract. Presumably using a text every 120 days counts as a chargeable event to ensure sim doesn't die?

You can stop the pack by sending STOP PACK to 150. And yes as long as you make at least 1 chargeable text every 120 days it will stay live

These are great value of you have a dual sim. Text DP1 to 150 for the £1 data pack which gives you 100mb, 10 mins and 10 texts for 1 week. So 5 weeks of data (500 mb) for 99p ain't bad.

Decent Deal this. :-)

I got the same issue, I think it takes some time before the sim fully activates, because I couldn't Stop the pack via text either, I will wait 24 hours, then try again.

Okay, keep us updated. I've tried it again yesterday and it was the same message as you said. I think it's because the SIM is not actually activated, I still have £5 balance, it is supposed to take £1 for the Talk pack when the card is activated but it didn't. The reason we get this message from Google Play is because you need to have Mobile data enabled when adding Carrier Billing, but I don't have mobile data as the SIM isn't activated lol I've tried ringing someone or texting to activate the SIM, but neither has worked for me..

The SIMs as standard only have 10MB of data as they are supposed to used to voice and text. I will let you know what EE come back with.

My pack worked fine after registering as far as the basic stuff goes. I got the pack stopped will have £4 credit left. You still get the remainder of the talk and text pack for one week. Useful as sim for your 2nd or emergency phone.
