Rang up today to move over to sim only contract having seen the current Virgin 20gb/£15 offer. No faffing, said I needed more data than my current 2gb, that I'd seen the virgin offer. They offered up matching this and adding an additional 5gb data. Includes eu data and bt as other recent deals have. 12 month contract, though you can upgrade at any time. Couldn't have been simpler, all done in three minutes.

I'm paying £20 for what looks like the same contract, any chance you got the name or email address of the person you spoke to?

I really don't know why people post retention deals. They are only applicable to the person posting.
Anyone else will not get the same deal so it's pointless.

I disagree - it gives us all a reference point to aim for. We need to know what is possible, otherwise how can you start to negotiate with the companies? Just my thought - thanks for sharing JJ69!

ah come on op, retention deals never go hot, on account of them being customer specific. you basically just bragging about what you got, and no one else can.

12 month contract, though you can upgrade at any time.....you say.
I was told that I'd be able to upgrade after 3 months.

I opted for my PAC instead.

Nope, not bragging, just want to let others know what deals they can ask for. As it was offered up as soon as I mentioned the Virgin deal, it seemed to be generally available... I was going into my renewal totally blind with regards to available deals, so just thought I would help someone else.

Why does it really matter if it's hot or cold anyway?

I find these type of threads useful so I know what similar options are available when my contract is up for renewal.

I'm on similar, £15.99 18gb, Unlimited. Had to go through retention, ask for PAC etc. That was about a year ago.

Spoke to EE retentions about leaving as my phone contract is up and was given unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 4gb of 4g data and same deal when in Europe ,so it'll be free to contact home and BT sports app for 12 months all for £9.99pm. Not bothered about a lot of data when out and about so took this deal.
