I called EE today with the aim of upgrading or cancelling my current EE mobile plan. My plan was 2GB data and Unlimited texts and calls. I had noticed that Virgin had a deal on for 20GB and unlimited texts/calls for £15. I decided to ask the kind lady on the phone if they were able to match this deal. She advised that I could, she said I can upgrade to EE sim only plan with 20GB data Unlimited texts/calls and 6 months free apple music £14.99. I was more than happy to except the offer. Usually you end up on the phone for a good 20/30 mins but this time it wasn't the case literally it was a 5 minute job and I couldn't be happier. From what the lady was saying I understand that others are able to take up this offer but she did advise that only some account holders would be eligible for this deal. But if you want to upgrade your not losing anything by asking.

Did exactly same and was told that they don't match prices of other networks. Tried with 3 different people and with retention department.

I'm sorry to hear that :(

Apple music with EE is supposed to only be for new users or anyone not already benefited from a previous Apple Music offer via EE.

Already posted.

This has been on offer from EE for at least a couple of weeks now. One individual claimed they offered 25gb as a sweetner.

Is this deal with EE on a 30 day sim only plan like the virgin plan ?

12 month contract.. if you don't want tied down and can cope with slightly slower 4G data speeds then go with Virgin Mobile as you'll have the freedom to move if a better deal comes along.

Choice is yours! :D

I can't see the point in posting retention deals. They depend on so many variables - individual customers' history, the particular time you call, your negotiating skills and so on. Just because one person gets a deal it doesn't mean someone else will get the same.

I don't understand the benchmark argument either. You should be trying to go as low as you can anyway, so seeing a low deal elsewhere on the same network is neither here nor there. When I tried the "I've seen you offer, x,y,z to someone else" in the past, it made no impression whatsoever. Trying to price match a competitor might sometimes work, but anecdotally even that seems less likely these days. It's hardly a deal though - anyone can try that at any time on any network.

Any idea why Virgin will slower 4G as Virgin uses the EE 4G network?
