This looks like a better deal than the 1001 available from Play for the same price as it has the six cell battery, which Asus make last even longer than other manufacturers due to EeePC magic. Spec as follows:

Up to 660 mins battery life

Processor speed 1.66GHz.
1GB DDR2 RAM .
250GB SATA hard drive.:
10.1in display.

Dedicated Intel GMA with 3150 graphics card.
3 USB ports.
Bluetooth.
B/g/n wireless/WiFi enabled.

I've just reserved a Black one - all that remains is to convince hubby to let me buy it!

If anyone is in London and wants to buy this...let me know and I can get you it for £190....I have vouchers which I have nothing to spend on so wouldn't mind letting you have it for £10 less. Will meet you at the argos that you prefer as well

I'll be interested to see if it really does have the 250GB Harddrive as Argos suggest as this would make it the 1005PE- I was under the inpression the 1005P had a 160GB hard drive. I'll find out when I pick mine up tomorrow

Got a black one reserved in wimbledon, but might be too far?;-)

Great machines. I had my 1005 with me on holiday. It's great for plane journeys, and other related long times spent waiting! Audio is a little quiet for watching movies but great performance. The ipad is DOA compared to this.

no, the ipad looks nice, is well made and screen is superb....but its massively overpriced and impractical.....that screen is justing waiting to be smashed.....unlike netbooks that are protected due to the clamshell nature
and yes ive tried one.....glorified large iphone with a gaming laptop price tag....3g element is nothing new

ill likely buy the iphone 4 though..lol!.....the htc has advantages but its bulky and ugly
#23
There is one in Wellingborough if this helps anyone.
#24
none near me

I got one in Lisburn and there is only one left in the same store and that is it throughout Northern Ireland from what i could see.

hey ive done a bit of research, the 1005P normally dont come with bluetooth or N draft wifi. Where the 1005PE has.
Has anyone actually got one from argos to confirm that it has both of the functions above?
Has argos got description wrong?!

Check this out.....

reserved the last one in leamington spa :) but i just know argos are gonna have fecked up and it'll be just a P rather than a PE.... i do hope its not a mistake though as i want the bigger HDD, Bluetooth and Wifi N.

If it is a P, i'm still going to get it, open it, use it, then take it back and complain.... just to be a pain in the arse :) Lets see them try and use their Please note that this product is excluded from our 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. .

Anyone looking for one in North London, I no longer need the one I reserved...PM me if you want the reservation code
#33
wow this is a good deal. i just got the msi wind u135 that has 160gb hdd, w7 s, wifi n, atom 450 but it doesnt have bluetooth and only has a 3 cell battery. from cpw

but im happy with my purchase and i will stick with it otherwise i would always find a better deal and hav to return every netbook i bought lol. anyway ive bought a £1 bluetooth dongle, ( not that i even have a use for bluetooth) and i will keep my eye out for a 6 cell battery.

But yeh you would be daft to buy anything other than this at the minute:-D
#34
all my local stores in north west england, are completely out of stock anyway.
#35
Yep, all sold out in the NW !

Would love one of these as recently sold my 1008HA and wish I never had !
#36
when anyone gets one please report how long the real world battery life is, 11 hours seems a little unrealistic.
#37
By the way, if anyone is looking for a carry case/bag for a 10inch netbook then look no further than the wii carry case from game which is currently £4.98 with delivery, absolute bargain. Its probably one of the best quality and most versatile cases out there and it doesnt say wii or anything on it (apart from gameware which is under the bag flap anyway so you cant see it.)

1 available for anyone in worcester =] (i cant get there for a couple days)
#39
if anyone gets their hands on one of these, let us know if it is a P or PE model and list some specs please, cos the ones from Argos seem potentially to be incorrect.

I've been using mine since about the middle of March. The battery life is very, very strong on it. Depending on your screen brightness, whether or not you're using wifi, whether or not you're watching video it lasts anywhere between about 7 and 9 hours, if you were just word processing or something with wifi off you'd probably make the 11 hours. There's a few different power options that Asus designed as well that are separate to Windows Power options, you can change them by press fn and space bar and you can change how much power it consumes. As far as I know it's Hackintoshable and has that asus quickboot linux thing as well for quixk internet searchs or chats on skype. Mine comes everywhere with me these days, I'm writing a 16,000 word masters thesis on it, and even the keyboard is good for such a large job.
