I don't think they are 100% accurate but they give users a good idea what is using the power in their house and how they could maybe make some savings.

u gotta be crazy to spend money on these, get one free from your energy supplier or buy one off ebay from someone else who has for peanuts.

the novelty wares off after one use, you find out what is using loads of electricity and then that's it, it just sits their using the electricity you are trying to save.

horrible to think of the waste caused by manufacturing these things which just tell you that your 50 inch plasma uses a lot of electricity which you knew anyway.

Just think, all the money the energy suppliers are over charging you that they can buy these and supply them for free to every home in the country. everyone should be up in arms!!

I have one of these (free) and whilst it is slightly interesting to look at I am not sure what the use is I am still going to use the same devices and not turn my TV off becasue it costs me 2p and hour

I think they're helpful in showing what some devices are using in standby though.

As said above, I don't think anyone will change from a 50 inch plasma, unless they're totally ignorant of the power usage of said device.

Not really, if it's anything like the one I had before it broke. To figure out what is using what, you have to go around and turn everything off and then turn each appliance back on one at a time; this sounds fine but because the readout is only refreshed slowly it's actually an intensely slow and frustrating process.

I bought the one I had in a hopeless attempt at getting my wife to associate using electrical appliances with cost. She claimed she looked at it but she didn't. It sat by the television showing our appalling electricity consumption until the batteries ran out. Two months later I mentioned that she never looked at it to which she replied "I look at it all the time!" followed shortly after by "oh it's not working!" It did maybe encourage me a little to more often go and turn everything off that had been left on but it had little real impact on our energy consumption. When it finally broke I decided to not waste £30 on another.

If you are generating electricity connect this to the output of the inverter and you have a good generation meter
